CBS stations return to DISH

Well this and the Turner sites has me rethinking my decision to remain with Dish. I write about TV for a living. I can't be without any stations I've signed up for. Thankfully Showtime has a decent press site. Will this eventually effect The CW as well? They're partially owned by CBS.

We don't get CBS OTA in Pittsburgh. I only get NBC and MeTV. So helpful. I've hated the digital transition far more than I ever expected.

Other than the highlighted area, which is totally not true, I agree with your post.

I would equate this with paying ransom to kidnappers. It should have never started.

The cable and satellite companies are doing the OTA networks a favor by carrying their signal. When CBS quits running 15 minutes worth of commercials every hour, that's when I would agree they should be paid for their programming.

Actually is 16 minutes PLUS 4 minutes at both the top and bottom of every hour.
For a total of 24 minutes of every hour when content is not being shown.

Every provider has contract disputes. I think you would be safest having multiple providers, you know, for job reasons.

KDKA (CBS) 2.1 comes in quite well and is quite popular. Have a 100 on my signal meter. I can't understand you not receiving this OTA channel.

Looking at your site I don't see how Dish losing the Turner channels affects you. All the shows you review on there are available on numerous providers and available online. I guess I just don't see how Dish losing a channel affects your site, I may be completely wrong though since I don't know your side of the business.

EDIT: I was just thinking to myself, if Dish is your only way of watching these shows and reviewing them, then I can understand how that would affect you doing your job. If that's the case, I would suggest having more than one provider in your home. There are actually quite a few members on here who have both Dish and DirecTV.

KDKA is most certainly available OTA. They broadcast from the same place as the NBC station that you can get, tower heights are the same, as is transmitter power.

OTA is not an option in the area of the country I live in the closet ota station is 2 hour drive away.

How far is it by how the crow flies? If it's 100 miles away there are antennas that can pick that up.

not when you are surrounded by mountains as okies like to call them but they are just really big hills.
you got 2 options a pbs station and an abc station that barely comes in.

During an outage, the latest CBS series episodes that we watch are available on Amazon/Roku HD for $2.99 each with no ads. Or, I can keep track of missed episodes and watch them later free on Amazon Prime - good workaround for me, but I feel bad for football fans.

sports fans have no issues with switching providers if they cant watch their teams play.

Big hills/mountains can be a big downer when it comes to antenna signal.

ota used to be great before the switch to digital, you could actually pull in stations from Tulsa and Dallas and sometimes you could pull in a OKC station.
high frequency signals do not like objects in their way.
