My late night uplink channel on DSR 922 has be G1 152 for a while now. During the summer months it has been fading and the digital cipher light is intermittent. I am in the east (Syracuse) and would like to move to a sat a little higher in the sky for me. I have tried to drive to a sat that I would like to use and did the power off routine, I thought that was supposed to reprogram the uplink channel, but it went back to G1 152. Any ideas?

Maybe he's looking for the guide download channel. What I do nightly is park the dish on G1-12 and turn it off. It will automatically go to ch 3 and get it's update. Never had a problem doing that.

Sounds like you may have tree/branch issues. I would look into anything that may be obstructing the LOS for G1.
There has been LOTS of discussion over the years on the default position. Keeping the updates over on one of the western birds is a 'legacy' thing I guess, and doesnt seem to make any difference to the powers that be what the people want.
If you do 4DTV, you need a clear LOS to 133W, period. I dont look for that to ever change as long as the service survives.

At some time in the late evening the receiver slues the dish to a preset sat (G1) and the channel it powers up at is 152 and then gets down loads for the next day. I have some Douglas firs that I planted years ago and they are starting to get big. It appears that my LOS is still ok but it will not last forever. I would like to see if there is another higher bird that i could use when it gets too much worse. looking at the replies I got it might not happen.

Thanks Tom

If your signal 'strength' and or DCII light are strong and stable on birds with known good LOS, the I'd have to say the Firs are your G1 problem.:(

Unfortunately the G1 info is not replicated any where else for the 9XX irds. There has been some discussion of, and wishful thinking to have that same info on any subscribable TP but nothing has ever come to pass, AFAIK.

If you find out otherwise or talk to some one that could do this (at ACC) be sure to post what you come up with.
