Detroit Tigers

Paul,
It should be a fun weekend, Bonderman on Saturday and Miller on Sunday...
If Miller continues to pitch the way he has , and sticks with the big club, that would give us a pretty good staff with Bonderman, Verlander and Miller, I enjoy watching all of them, put a healthy Maroth and Robertson in there, thats pretty strong.

Tired Arm ??? He's thrown to many pitches ??? and he's tired !!!

Have you noticed, last year Robertson was a strikeout pitcher, now it's hard to find strikeouts in his totals (many), maybe he's trying to K everybody therefore throwing more picthes ???

There were a lotta hits over the weekend...glad to see the Tigers take 2 of 3 from the Mets.

Yas,
But as Leyland said today " If we don't start winning games 5-3 and 3-2 we won't be around in the end".

You know what ?
He's right ....

There was more talk that Zumaya may or may not be back this year.

Kenny Rogers appearently looked good for Toledo tonight, I'm currently looking for a line score yet.
Toledo was leading 2-1 going into the ninth, but of course Rogers was long gone (1st start).

Zumaya still hopeful for August return. The talk about him not returning is from Leyland who says that "who knows , maybe he doesn't come back, you can never tell with these things, either way he's not here now , and I can't concern myself with that." That is not the exact quote, but it's pretty close. Zumaya's doctor says Zumaya is on track for August. Impressive hitting display so far this month.

Paul,
Thats good to know about Zumaya, I never did hear when he was suppose to come back, till now.

No doubt, but it sure if fun to administer a wood-shampoo to the opposing pitchers every now and then.:)

Yes, I agree, so I guess it would be better if the Tigers start winning 10-3 or 8-2 or 7-0, that way the pitching gets back in shape the way it should be.
The Starters don't seem to be going as long as you might like them to, I perfer 7-8 innings , but thats just me.
The current bullpen scares me when they go to it.

Grilli has suddenly lost it.
Byrdik has looked awesome, never heard of him till the call up.
Minor seems to be pitching well.
Rodney ... still on the come back trail (injury)
Todd (Roller Coaster) Jones scares me on most nights, but even he will tell you, if he loads the bases and they still win, thats great ......

Tigers pick up a half a game and are now out by only 1 game.
Seattle beat Cleveland in a strange game 8-7.
Seattle got out to an early 7-0 lead, the Indians battled back and tied it at 7-7 in the 8th, then Seattle scored in the ninth and the Indians had 2 on and 2 out and failed to score.

Man the Indians just keep on coming at ya, like last year and more, it's gonna be a fun summer and fall in Ohio.

Verlander!!! This kid had some of the nastiest stuff I've ever seen. Definitely the nastiest the Brewers have seen , or didn't see. 102 MPH fastball to the last hitter. Hats off also to Neifi Perez on one hell-of-a-play, turning the DP with Polanco, on a ball that I was sure was getting through. Tigers back in first, on the best pitching performance I've seen in Detroit since 1984.

Rodney is killing me, along with this no-account bullpen.

Leyland said he's going to stick with him and hope he comes around, hopefully it's just a bit of rust from the time off.... So he should be better REAL soon.

Or the eighth inning will be just as harrowing as the ninth usually is when Roller Coaster Jones arrives. :)

Tigers hold on against the Phillies and the Braves help out by beating the Indians !!!

I wonder who Mr. Dombrowski is looking into for the Tigers life support bullpen ?

Jimbo

Maroth and Monroe are rumored trade bait. Meanwhile Verlander wins again. I would think his chances of starting the allstar game will come down to his turn in the rotation.

Any ideas yet as to where ?
I had heard Tigers were looking into Texaria from Texas, but haven't heard anything definate.
Probably just wishful tinking ,,, The Yankees probably will out bid them, but offer less.

Jimbo

Texaria not needed here. (Well he wouldn't hurt) but the cost would probabily be more of our precious pitching prospects. Bullpen help is a much more desired acquisition right now in my opinion. 4 run leads have become save situations for this bullpen. A closer may be in order (move Jones to set-up). Rogers due to start Friday. Now the speculation starts on who gets moved to the bullpen. I'm guessing it will be Durbin, since he originally made the team as a reliever. Miller may be in the rotation permanently now. Maroth probabily remains in the rotation also because he's a lefty. So where does that leave Robertson when he returns? I'll bet there are 29 other teams that wish they had this kind of rotation problem. Dombrowski will have to address the bullpen problem, though. We've got to start winning some of these games 3-2 and 4-3, if we want to be playing in October.

Texaria IS needed as Casey probably won't be back next year...
Then again, there was talk of Guillen moving to 1st as well and working with Thymes there as well. But then we would need a shortstop, unless they are happy with Infante at short on a regular basis.

As for the bullpen, I think Durbin goes to the pen. Robertson or Maroth could be trade bait for Texaria or a solid reliver.

As for the 29 teams .... We were one of them for a LOOOOOOONG time until a year or so ago.

Jimbo

Robertson nor Maroth will be enough for Texiera. Cameron Maybin, and another top ranked pitching prospect would be the opening bid. The Tigers continue their torrid hitting streak. I don't recall any Tiger team hitting like this in my lifetime. (And a LONG lifetime it's been). If this continues season long , some MLB records will fall. Still waiting to see how the rotation shakes out later this week.

Getting kind of lonely around here lately Jimbo. Where did everybody go?

Well, here's hoping that they don't pull the trigger on Maybin that would be stupid.
We do not need Texiera, we are already on pace to break the team record for runs scored, and god only know's what else. Casey is perfect on this team, he isn't expected to hit homers, he is expected to get on base, and play Defense, and he does both very well.

The only thing this team is for the Pen to get fixed, and that is all we need. Once that is done(AND IT WILL BE), then Detroit will be the team to beat in Baseball, PERIOD.

BTW did anyone catch the Rangers owner HIX in that interview he did on camera? What an idiot!!
