DirecTV 12 How Will We Know?

With the successful launch of the DirecTV 12 satellite, I was wondering, will my receiver just all of a sudden see it? Will it automatically be listed with my other satellites on the signal strength screen when it goes live later this year?

On that same front, will any adjustments need to be made to my dish on the roof or will it's current alignment be ok?

You need do nothing. When D12 begins sending new channels down, your receiver will detect it and the on screen displays will show the signal strength. Your dish will be fine without any adjustments. So sit back, relax, and wait with the rest of us!

D 12 will go at an existing sat location, so you won't have anything to do.
When it goes "Live" you will see new channels pop in and D* will probably have a banner page saying what channels are at what channels IF the additions are a large number at one time.
Otherwise they may roll in a few at a time.

When the first roll out came, we got a bunch all at one time, the next time, it was a few channels a week over a few months.

No telling what will happen this time till they say, if they say.

Correct! IOW, DetFan, you are not speaking from your knowledge, but are only trying to show Directv in a negative light without any good reason. You don't really know what channels will be on D12 any more than anyone else does. Why not wait and see. If you are correct, then gloat all you want. In fact, if Directv doesn't add at least 10 national hd channels on D12, I will come back to this thread and laud your vision. How's that?

I could care less if I get to gloat or not, the only thing I have seen from them this past year or so are price increases, crappy equipment, and not a lot of anything else. More HD than anyone else? I DO NO THINK SO. Who the hell cares about more HD PPV? Not me, and let's be honest, I am the one paying MY BILLS.

I am also not looking for your support, or for you to come back and Laud my vision, I do not know, nor do I care what you think about anything I have to say.. I actually never claimed to KNOW WHAT WAS GOING to be on D12, it was just my opinion, and I am certainly entitled to that, no matter how misguided you think it may be. You can be a fanboy all you want, I do not have to, nor will I continue to sing the praises of a company that clearly has lost its way.

Your post hardly pisses me off. I simply don't like it when people post FUD. Unless you have an ax to grind with Directv, which apparently you do, why would you do it? BTW, I am no fanboy of Directv. In fact, I may well go back to my local cable company if I am not satisfied with what we get from D12. If Dish had the YES Network I would consider them as well.

I have to agree with DetFan that Direct has "lost its way", I love Direct but they seem to have sat back, chilled out, and let everyone catch up to them while shrugging their shoulders and saying "so?". I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope that D12 changes this and throws us back on top. But the only hype I am hearing is HD PPV and HD 3D, but nothing about regular national HD....

PLEASE, THROW US A BONE!!!!!!!!!!!!! INSTILL OUR FAITH AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

About half the stuff I watch is on Travel and Fine Living Network, so it'd be nice to get those in HD. Comcast has them already in my area.
