I am told NO unless you tell them you have a Tailgater. Are you aloud to have a Wally on a H3 account?
I see this all time on Dish Support Forum message like this Hdd failure... Again, etc, etcOut of Dish's 14 million customers, how many do you really think would care? I know a lot of people here would but how many is that even? Are we talking a few thousand?
The ad slick says 10 bit, so I'd be inclined to assume that it won't support HDR.I assume it supports the High Dynamic Range that Ive been reading about on all of these new 4K tv's?
10 bit is exactly what you need for HDR. Standard video is 8-bit. That is 8 bits per color, a total of 24 bits per pixel. The ad slick says 10 bit, so I'd be inclined to assume that it won't support HDR.
Again why spend the money? Out of the millions of hopper out there only a very small amount come back due to hard drive failures. And the amount of people who actually buy there own is small. Again not worth the cost.
If you want your stuff backed up back it up to an external hard drive.
Oops. My bad.10 bit is exactly what you need for HDR. Standard video is 8-bit. That is 8 bits per color, a total of 24 bits per pixel.
Same here buddy, and I was even a former techWonder what sort of training the Installers will have. I've had horrible experiences with 3/4 of the installers that Dish sent in here in the past. I'm talking a combination of technical knowledge and courtesy to respect a person's home.
Don't need to hear how the installer doesn't get paid enough to do a good job. The Dish products are amazing and service is great but I am paranoid to let the these guys at my HT wiring with his wire snipers and hammer drill.

Scott just dosen't see the bigger picture of things ....
What New Hopper ?, Far as I know of it just skin job changing Blue to Black Theme.
There is new Joey
But any case the Hopper is still a joke
Do you have these in an enclosed cabinet where they are overheating? That is very unusual to lose 1 let alone 2 hard drives that fast.I've actually had two HDDs fail and the latest replacement has been buzzing something fierce (which now won't be a problem because I intend to switch to the H3). Each time they didn't stop dead, there were warning signs that enabled me time to back everything up. And for the few days it took DIRT to get a new one in my hands between watching live and On Demand it really wasn't as big a deal as I made it up to be in my mind. Totally agree, why spend the money even if on the lease the net difference is only $2.
I'd say he's already done that.Dude! Seriously? Scott doesn't see the big picture?

You sir are part of the TINY picture which is why you won't see what you want on the Hopper 3.Scott just dosen't see the bigger picture of things it not about just backup.
I see a couple of things that you may not be giving due consideration:For me at one point in time I had as min 10 up to Tuner going under SageTV with 3x2TB = 6TB not counting the other media storeage drive for DVD/Blu-ruy Moive, Photo, Muisc and Home Video
We see about HDMI 2.0 from my beauty post #1 but hopelee I'm wrong but one can even know in tell we get them in our hands as I all ready got a blu-ray play with HDMI 2.0 that will work not with RCA TV but dose work LG TV go figure.Dude! Seriously? Scott doesn't see the big picture? You joined this forum barely two-and-a-half weeks ago and have a total of 15 posts and you're calling out Scott for not seeing the big picture? The fact is, Scott does see the big picture and he has worked his butt off for years to show it to everyone here. Just because you don't like what you saw doesn't make him wrong.
Nearly everything you have posted has had a negative slant, including this beauty in post #1:
If you're not careful, you are going to earn a reputation here and your contributions will not be taken seriously. My advice to you is, rather than being argumentative at every turn, use this forum to glean valuable information from those who have years of experience not only with this forum but with the satellite industry as a whole. And by all means, before you post anything as fact, do your research.
