As part of Dish Protect Gold Dish provides Identity Force so I doubt that Dish did not have any cyber insurance.

I believe the “security team” was just McAfee. In the early days of the hack someone believed to belong to Dish IT posted on Reddit (Google “dish hack mcafee reddit” if you want to read the post, it’s kinda technical but hilarious all the same) saying that their large company just got affected by blackbasta, and that they just fired McAfee due to not providing “adequate protection”. He/She posted anonymously but the timeline provided in the post was oddly similar to Dish’s. So…..

That's beyond embarassing, IF all their "network security" was, consisted of McAfee Antivirus.
