One of my HR21's has been acting up lately(locks up requiring a reboot). Will I have to pay Directv anything to replace it? I wouldn't need a service call - I can changeout the replacement myself. Would the replacement extend my current contract another 2 years?

If you have the Protection plan, either of them, there will be no charge.

Jimbo mentioned that there may be a shipping charge without the pp because it is sometimes waived without it.
if the receiver is owned it may not have a shipping charge. When I replaced a R15 I wasnt charged a shipping fee
