So with the two boxes( one dvr one regular) can I switch rooms to watch what i recorded on the dvr if i needed too like I can with Dish? What about the cables? Will the Direct tv cables hook into the wall like the Dish cables do? Just switched over in the attic? I think we will like Direct better but needed to get more info and not from Dish reps.

Thanks
you can if you have mrv installed(multi room viewing) its $3 a month
i cant answer about the cables
directv will need rg6, no splitters, ect
they should be able to use the same ones
maybe some minor modifications

I was wondering... I'm gonna make the switch from Xfinity to D*... Should I use D* to sign up or there's a local guy I'd like to use. Will I still get all the same discounts and rebates? I'm guessing yes but wanna make sure! If yes... when can I apply for them using the outside guy?

Thxs in advance!

Eric

i think the only thing you can get from the local is the referral credit
iirc you have to call the special number, but i may be wrong

Hey guys,

I just jumped over from Dish with the online promo pkg.
My question is...with me having $0.00 due at install, will I have to make the first payment at activation, or when?
Further, how do they bill, as in 2 months in advance or whatever?

Thanks for the advice, y'all. It feels good to be back with DTV.

welcome :wave

No you do not make a payment at the beginning...at least I didnt
I signed up through my Telco and was billed a prorated amount + a month. If you go through D* directly they may do the same

I just signed up and am installed. 1st bill generated the evening of the install and was for a full month. No 2nd month or pro-rata, just a full month. I'm set up on credit card autopay so I can get the free HD and the 1st bill was taken pretty quickly. I want to say about 2 days could've been only 1.

now that I look at old bills yeah it was for a month. Actually I was billed for two months since I go through my Telco for a discount.

I think it's the next day of the install, at least it was for me. Money was already gone the next day and it was for a month.

So basically it is pretty much billed in advance for the current month, I'm guessing.

I'll be prepared to have cash on the card I'm using for auto pay the day of the install. I know that if the payment is not made, I lose all my discounts.

Ok to make you DTV experience all that it should be lets go over a few basics.

1. Your promo pricing requires you spend 5 minutes on Directv.com/Rebates and do the rebate submission. The Rebates will apply a credit to your bill each month giving you the promotional rate.

2. Free HD for Life requires Autopay don't forget.

3. Dont sign anything unless you happy with the install

4. Please understand that MRV aka Whole Home DVR is still new to the agents answering the phones. So Please be kind to them

5. If you have any questions at all about your account feel free to PM me. Unlike the DishNet forum which has employees spying over there , I am here to help I am your unoffical liason though this. So feel free to pm with anything.

I might add something else to this list later.

i just took the plunge and ditched comcast for direct. will be here sunday afternoon to hook me up. i am a former dish person and comcast person now too :D i have submitted my rebate form already and got the confirmation email saying so, which i saved. one question i do have is i was told that i save $10 month for auto bill pay and nothing was said about HD free for life. i got the digital premier package, maybe that is included already? looking forward to sunday ticket too

Too bad I installed on Saturday. Sunday, I found a lcd hdtv on sale and couldn't resist so I replaced the downstairs tv with the new lcd. The day before I had a hddvr upstairs in living room installed and a standard receiver downstairs (the one that I replaced on Sunday.) Decided to call Directv to see if I could swap out the standard for a hd receiver. Answer was no, unless I paid for the receiver. I really wish I could but am not willing to pay another $100.00.

you can use an hd reciever with an sd tv, i have mine hooked that way
im just mad at myselft for not getting a second hd dvr

If they call back after the install and say there is a ordering mistake they will mail him a HD reciever. Trick is to do it right after the install as you only have 14 daysafter install for a agent to make a hardware correction order.

Contemplating a switch to D from E. Question on programming...........I see channel 389 PBS, looks like a national feed of PBS. Is this available if I also have the Pittsburgh,Pa. locals?

long time dishnetwork customer getting tempted by some of the directv promos I'm seeing in the mail but wondering if there is anyway to specify or request an HR34?
