Installed xmlnotepad in CrossOver (since I'm using a Mac). Must install .NET Framework 2.0 1st in CrossOver for it to work. I I used the Windows 8 bottle to set it up... Notepad also works good in CrossOver. My file now works properly. I also updated the firmware on the receiver to 1107. So far so good... THANKS for the tips!
I would like the option to totally disable the Child Lock password for DVR Recordings. I hate having to enter the password for every video before I can watch my recordings.
It is already there. Just go into the Settings, Parental Control, and turn Off the System lock and Parental rating. Does not work for my DVR Recordings, but does work everywhere else. I just rebooted and tried recording new video, and it still makes me put in the password
FYI: If you get "Failed To Connect" message, that's because the channel isn't broadcasting at the moment. All of these worked but they don't seem to be full time, just while a game or other program is being broadcasted live.
I have been watching the IPTV and XBMC channels and have really enjoyed the video and programming that I have discovered. At first it was almost unwatchable because our only rural cable internet service was limited to 3meg speed so it was continuous buffer-buffer-buffer. Recently our service was upgraded and we now have 30meg (maximum) available with about a net speed of 21meg via WIFI according to Speed Test. Most programming, probably 80-90%, is smooth and nearly no buffering but when watching a program with High Definition and a lot of screen motion I do still have occasional buffering. I have been using WIFI but am thinking of connecting via Ethernet connection with a Cat5 patch cable. Even though my router is only 10-15 feet away from my HDVR3500 unit I am going to have to route the cable up through the attic and down a wall to keep the wire out of the walking path. The routing up and over will be about 50 feet long. Will a 50 ft. cable be too long for a good ethernet connection? I am not knowledgeable of the limits for ethernet cable lengths on a network..
I think the limit is 100 meters (300+ feet), so you should be good. I was lucky because my house was built in 2010 and was pre-wired with Cat-5 inside the walls throughout the house. I like to minimize the amount of Wi-Fi because it goes out every time someone turns on our microwave oven.
Finding legitimate links can be difficult, and I'm trying to use only official links. I shared my results hoping it would be of benefit to someone, or maybe SatelliteAV can choose to add some to the list included with the receiver in future updates. I'm sure for now making sure all the bugs get worked out of the receiver is SatelliteAV's priority at the moment.
