I'm wondering if anyone is receiving Intelstat 35e at 34.5 degrees West? It is mainly for the French Caribbean but the the beam reached a long ways north (I use it mainly for the audio radio channels which are in the clear)
Because of a tree block, I usually can get it only during the winter months. I tried to get it this week, but with no success whatsoever. Interestingly I can get Hispasat 5/6 next store with absolutely no problem.
Is anyone aware if they have changed their beam (I am in southern Canada near Ottawa)?
Thanks!

A well tuned 90 cm offset should bring in some of the channels in your location, as I am getting it in SW Wisconsin under test conditions. Same antenna on 30 West is definitely stronger/
34.5w is very fussy about pinpoint tuning, so recommend at least a 1.2 meter offset for some more gain, or use of a spectrum analyzer to fine tune each polarity separately. The fact that you got it last year means that 34.5 should become usable again once all leaves have fallen.

i receive it on a 90cm in western Connecticut. The reception is not as good as it used to be, but still ok, with not a lot of margin for rain fade though. As mentionned by Keith, 11100V is more difficult

As a francophone, i'm mostly interested in receiving FranceInfoTV and France 24, as well as some of the radio stations (Radio Transat is pretty good if you like classic rock)

Yea, i love this satellite. I use it all the time. I have a dedicated 39" on it and am North of Wisconsin. I put a high quality LNBF on it, and have no issues with signals unless there is a thunderstorm or heavy snow storm. I get all the Venezuelan and all the French Caribbean channels. I love the radio stations some good music, and a few of the video such as Clave,CGTN Documentary, the french news and Spanish News. I have had no issues with this satellite including a solid lock on 11100v since i tuned it with the higher quality LNBF probably 3+ years now.

Boston what high quality lnbf are you using?
Inverto Black Ultra 0.2dB Twin Output. and i found the post where i installed it back in May of 2022, so i guessed right when i said 3+ years.

Brct203 posted a review of different LNBF performance, so there are a couple others that performed close to the Inverto Black Ultra.

Also, still found the inverto ultra

The weather finally cleared up this morning and I was able to get reception. Mikekohl you are right, you definitely need pinpoint aiming . I had to raise the elevation nearly a degree. By the way, I did a scan and there is a new channel in the clear CCS Movie. My favorite channel is Radio St. Barth

Hey iBoston, did you notice a degradation of signal quality since the days of my LNBF review? If I remember correctly I was getting up to 12 dB on the France24 transponder, but these days, with the same Inverto LNBF I get at most 10 dB (that's on a 90cm FortecStar, so a bit smaller than your dish, but in Western CT so I am on the edge of the footprint). I'm very impressed that you get the 11100V transponder.

Radio St Bart is on 11635/H/30000. It's one of the weaker transponders, so in my case the weather has to be near perfect to receive it.

Thank you.. My receiver was showing St Bart @ 11099H45000. Not sure if it used to be there or something got screwed up.. Thank you. I had 11635 arleady scanned in. I had to delete the stuff @ the old frequency, and then change the radio stuff on 11635 to TV in the service list to get them to show up without having to go into radio mode. I wanted to listen to St Barth to give it a listen... Chillin to it now... I also had to re-hide all the encrypted channels. Slick now.

Right now 8.2 dB

now that I think of it, I have that dish connected through a multiswitch and then a diseqc 1.1. I wonder if that has much impact on my reception quality

I have a 99cm 39" - I am connected through multiswitches, and a diseqc as well. I can access this channel from 4 different satellite receivers. That few extra inches must make all the difference. I could not get a stable connection until i put that Inverto Black Ultra on it, and then i was golden after that.

I am getting 11.00 dB on 11635h
10.25db on the hard one 11100v

Im getting 11.50db on the 11596 France 24 Mux - I don't know if the db has gone over the years or not. I don't tend to pay attention to that unless im having reception issues, but i have had no reception issues on any of the transponders on this satellite since i upgraded the LNBF. I haven't even tweaked the dish since i put in that LNBF.

I will also add this is a bizarre satellite for me. When i do a blind scan it really mucks things up. I think there are identical SIDS on multiple frequencies or something.. I had to learn not to scan 11180 as that creates some weird issues. I had to create a new satellite and scan the 11180 as a different satellite to get that transponder. This is the only satellite i have this weird issue with.
