In states that do not have satellite tax , Im in GA of course. I called them because I was thinking about coming back but I had proof I was not suppose to be getting charge sales tax and they said old well. I called them but they could not tell me 1 way or another.

lobo, it was supposed to be rectified and I believe they have reimbursed the taxes collected via credit. It was done on my bill. Maybe someone in GA can tell you for your location how is their bill.

I'm in GA and am looking at my bill right now. It is a little confusing. On my online bill, I see:

FRANCH FEE EQUIP/SMT/REM $0.95

but on the paper copy it shows the $0.95 as Sales tax. But, that fee was $3.94 until October, so it did go down a little bit.

I received a tax refund on my November bill (I live in VA). However, I cancelled/reordered under the new promotion offer and was once again being illegally taxed. The VOOM CSRs sure are nice, but it took 6 weeks before my account was credited and the tax situation squared-away. On two occasions I was contacted by an account specialist who stated they were using an updated (outdated if you ask my opinion) piece of tax software (piece being the operative word) and that my bill is correct. Simple said, the tax software is always correct and my state/local gov't must have updated their tax policies. Don't fall for this line! The VOOM CSRs really are very nice, but make sure you have all the facts.

Lobo-you must be thinking about coming back to Voom. I'm in Colorado, but we were being billed for sales tax. Voom refunded the taxes paid in all previous bills in December of 2004 through a credit applied to that month's bill. I'm currently on VaVaVoom with no rental fees, no taxes. The bill is $79.90 and I pay by check, not autopay.

If you come back, welcome back. Whatever you do--good luck.

Thanks stone Man , I call them back and I was told I be given a call from there billing department with in 48 hours to let me know for sure . Yeah I liked Voom it was just getting billed extra and the sales tax is what drove me away , didn't have a problem with the service .

Ok , got a message on my answering machine from a person that was the escalation manger at vooms corporate office and was told that there is no Taxs in GA, they got it worked out and wanted me to call them and see what they could do to get me back as a costumer again . I will have a chat with the wife to make sure its ok to see what they want to offer me if anything ? And go from there.

Lobo, I'm down west of Macon and I own my equipment. I pay no tax any longer. I was reimbursted what they had collected from the beginning.

How can I find out if the sales tax is applicable to my state, Florida. We have a sales tax but to my knowkledge it only applies if a physical item is bought and the seller is in Florida. I don't pay sales tax on internet sales from companies in other states. We do not tax services.

I don't live in Fla., but I think they have a Satellite Tax.

They sure do. There is a tax for most everything but especially cell and satellite. My $29 cell plan is $39 with taxes same with my satellite

I've signing up to Voom, and had some questions. This is an install in Western Suffolk County, and I had questions about Voom OTA reception. Currently, I know WCBS-DT, WNBC-DT, WNYW-DT, WABC-DT, WWOR-DT, and WPIX-DT are on the ESB combiner. Is there an antenna that can pick up the direction for those networks, and be able to pick up WLNY-DT (TV 55) and WLIW-DT? Would you recommend an antenna model, and advise me on how to get Voom to install it? What is the best antenna offered by Voom BTW?

I wanted to know which multidirectional antenna, would help me receive these channels in my area:

WCBS-DT 2.1 CBS NEW YORK NY 291° 33.7 56
WLNY-DT 57.1 IND RIVERHEAD NY 70° 26.8 57
WFTY-DT 67.1 TFA SMITHTOWN NY 69° 24.9 23

Is there a way to get Voom to run a cable down from the antenna to the boxes without the diplexor? Would they also amp/preamp it? Do you know if they'd run the cable into my basement, and up through the floor without incurring extra charges? (It's not going to be strung through the walls, the basement ceiling is exposed beams.)

Would they mount the dish and antenna to my chimney, versus my roof? Will that cost extra? Can I get that free?

Does Voom include VHF antennas with their installs? I'm curious because AFAIK, the UHF assignments are not permanent, and stations could return to VHF stations between 5-13.

I thank you for your time. My install is due for March 26. Hopefully, I won't lose my locals.
