Jeff Fisher

I have been a Titans fan since they were the Oilers. I have been questioning why Fisher was not leaving. If Fisher would have stayed and a QB is drafted you have to teach that QB a system, then next year Jeff would be gone and that 2nd year QB would be in his 3rd system in 3 years (college included). Would be hard to develop. If CBA is completed and free agency occurs it would also be hard to court many attractive free agents.

The next departure I am waiting for is Bud Adams. I respect what he has done but his team is in Tennessee and he is in Texas, has to know all the day to day occurrences.

Sure Fisher has been a good coach, but I wouldn't say he has been a great coach. He was definitely a rock when the team transitioned from Houston to Nashville but 1 SB appearance in 16 years is not great.

Just received a message Jeff Fisher is out as coach of the Titans. WOW!!!

I am shocked that they did this AND state they were gonna go after another QB. Unless of course it was a big lie by Buddy Adams to make people think he chose the coach over the QB because they SAID he was going after another one.

The timing just doesn't make sense to me. It will be interesting to see if Vince Young is offered another chance. (I doubt he will be though)

I would not be surprised IF they did give him another shot. ANYTIME you a a Christmas card with the owner AND their franchise QB, with the coach NO WHERE to be found in the pic ....well that says ALOT!

Fisher will be out of work for 5 minutes, I'm sure his phone would have hung about working already had the Owner not waited till all the jobs were filled before he decided to get rid of him.

The fact that they were not offering Fisher a contract is another BAD omen, piss poor of the owner if you ask me to leave him hang and now it's even worse timing.

I would not be surprised if the owner did it on purpose.

Told you who was the real problem!

Vince Young's reputation is what hurts him. From what i have heard from the talking heads is he has : No work ethic, a lousy team mate, and he is poison in the locker room. In other words, a million dollars worth of talent but a 25 cent brain.

I would love this guy to be our coach in miami. Oh wait....... dolphins gave Sparano and Ireland contract extensions through the 2013 season:rolleyes:

Sounds like there was a snafu in hashing out the final contract agreement that couldn't be overcome. Looks to me that this was Fish's call, if not at least mutual.....

A source told ESPN's John Clayton that one of the final disagreements that led to Fisher's departure involved his son, Brandon. Jeff Fisher wanted to have his son on the staff as a quality control coach and thought that was going to be approved. Brandon Fisher helped out during the season while offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger was receiving cancer treatment.

For several years, Adams has stressed he didn't want family hired on the Titans coaching staff and he apparently stuck by those principles this week in conversations with Fisher.

Jeff Fisher out as Tennessee Titans coach after 16 seasons - ESPN

And PS. According to Schefter, the Titans STILL plan on cutting/trading Vince Young...

He won't have any problem finding another job, it probably won't be until next year though.

Five years ago, I'm sure that no one thought that all of these coaches would not be employed as an NFL head coach now: Fisher, Dungy, Cowher, Gruden, Holmgren
