L3.49 for the ViP211 receivers

Since I got the upgrade I haven't had any snow. Picture is great. I will keep playing with it.

L3.49 seems to have fixed the problem I have been having for months with one OTA channel. No prob's with HDMI or snowy picture yet. Still waiting for the update on my 622.

E*, please don't fix it again!

I've received the update. I had the snow screen but just powered off on the front panel. I then waited a couple of minutes and it powered on and went through the usual guide update, etc. I have not had an issue with the hdmi as others are reporting. It looks like the signal strength indicators for ota are now showing lower levels than before, but the signal still comes in fine. I really don't see much change

I guess I spoke to soon. Today I turned on the receiver and had nothing but snow and flashing screen. I had to pull the power this time to get it back. The signal strength meter for sats is very different. Example 129 TP 31 was around 99 before now it shows 53. No difference in PQ though.

Yeah I got the snow screen again today had to power down the receiver. So it seems they have tried to fix something with the HDMI Input. Whatever they changed with HDMI on this update they need to set it back. Lets hope the next update they leave the HDMI input alone.

I installed my replacement receiver this morning, and it downloaded L4.30. I tested it for about a hour and the HDMI didn't fail and the OTA seemed more stable. I didn't have any breakup on channels down in the 70s on the meter, nor did I have the 100 to 0 dropout problem.

I still suspect that I really didn't need a replacement receiver, that the problem has been software. Still, DISH wanted to replace it so I let them.

It's a good start, but we'll see what happens long term.

Some of us have had the Snowy screen at least twice in about a week and we never had problems with HDMI before. So it must be a software related problem.

Thought I would get 3.49 today, but still have 3.45. Hopefully I will get it before the 15th when all HD goes to mpeg4.
Not all HD yet. But the VOOM channels that aren't MPEG-4 already will be on Wednesday. Since you already have a ViP receiver, that shouldn't affect you at all.

Smith will correct me if I'm wrong but there's a new one out there L3.48 (my first time :)):

It's hard to see which one is the newest one. :) 08B0 is the one you posted so 08B3 is a new one and it's only for 17 receivers.

That's the info for public. Other group(s) it's gamma tester's receivers and don't interesting for ppl.

So your report should be like that:

<date, time> FW: L349, Model: ViP211 70565979-76109725

I called up customer retention dept, and told them that I was sick of the POS 211 that I had and the crap software updates and the offered to replace it with a VIP222 which they are scheduled to install tomorrow morning. Hope it is all it is cracked up to be.

Yeah I agree Randall I hoping that the L4.30 will fix that issue. :)

Got it. So the one I just posted on the 622 L4.41 should be OK, right?

For the third time in a week we get the snowy screen on the 211. They really need to put back what we had or just fix the damn thing. I'm getting tired of hearing my daughter and my wife that the receiver doesn't work anymore. Thank you Dish for screwing up the 211s.

I haven't had the snowy screen with L4.30 yet. I did, however, have an odd loss of satellite signal screen while skies were perfectly clear last night after 9 PM.

I had to reset.
