Dodgers have expressed interest in three shortstops: Cristian Guzman, Jack Wilson, and David Eckstein.

White Sox have expressed interest in Huston Street.

Phillies have expressed interest in Matt Holliday??? (I don't get this one).

I don't get the White Sox looking for Street, they have one of the best pitching in the league , thier bullpen is solid and they are getting Jenks back soon, unless he's back already, maybe they have trouble elsewhere we don't know about yet ?

So the Brewers did not get Taschner but did get Durham for Ford and AAA soft tossing pitcher Hammond. All this team needs is one more bullpen arm...

I agree. If they get Huston Street........they might be celebrating in the streets of Milwaukee come late october.

The Yankees are interested in A.J. Burnett. They reportedly had two scouts in Tampa on Friday to watch Burnett pitch.

IF that were to happen (and I don't see it) Will the Commish finally retire ?

Jimbo

I wish!!!!!!! Then maybe Pete Rose would have some shot at getting into the HOF.

Unfortunately I don't see this happening soon enough for Pete to get in the HOF.
He still has to have writers vote him in and I don't see that happening because the writers feel that they own the HOF and that Pete OWES them.

I personally think the writers are full of it and that there should be some requirements for voting on HOF players.

Add the Tigers to the list that interested in Pirates SS- Jack Wilson.

The Yankees would love to have either Xavier Nady or Casey Blake to add to their outfield. With both Matsui and Posada likely gone for a while (if not the rest of the season), and Johnny Damon coming back off the DL the Yankees are in need of another bat. The theory is that if they acquire Nady/Blake, that player would share LF with Damon. Johnny in turn would share the DH spot with Giambi, who in turn would share 1B with newly acquired Richie Sexson.

Wilson has been mentioned to be going to the Tigers for about 4 years now, I don't see it happening.

After looking at his stats, he would be lucky to make the team.
He's hitting .282 which is fine, but thru 50 games he's got 12 rbi's and a dismal on base percentage....
WHY would they want him ?

They have 2 back ups that play better than that:
Ryan Rayburn, if they played him in ONE position, would fit the bill great and they also have Ramon Santiago, both that I think is better than Mr. Wilson.

I hoped they didn't get him a few years ago and still hope they don't.

Latest rumored trade talk: Mark Teixeira to the Angels for Robb Quinlan and Brandon Wood.

Then what do the Angels do with Casey Kotchman who has been stellar defensively @ 1B this season? His power HR wise has toned down but he can still see, hit, and spray the ball to all fields. He was the game winner on Sunday evening.

I would not mind trading Q and Woody as they have not lived up to quite the potential the Angels thought.

KCK,
that's exactly why I don't see the Angels making this move. Kotchman is an Angels type player: fundamentally sound. I personally think Teixeira is overrated..........considering the money he commands.

Add the Mets to the list interested in Huston Street. Also, the Mets have scouted the Rangers recently and might be interested in OF Marlon Byrd and pitcher Vicente Padilla.

Oh...there's a good one...Marlon Byrd in the NY press limelight. He is such a powderkeg he wouldn't last the remainder of the season there.

Street to the Mets? Why not? He'd be a great fit and that would leave the A's with hardly any arms!

Bill,
Is that really how you determine if a guy is over rated ?
By his payroll ???

I certianly hope not ....
By the payroll, most athletes are over rated.

Jimbo

This is true but, IMO, it's all relative. If Player X and Player Y are both making $16 million, and I think Player X is vastly superior to Player Y than of course I'm going to consider Player Y overrated. Is that an ok explanation? :D

Here's the latest from Ken Rosenthal:

Rosenthal says the Marlins are in on Brian Fuentes and other top relievers, and they're more focused on bullpen help than a catcher. The Marlins' interest in Fuentes was first reported by the Denver Post's Troy E. Renck on July 9th.
  • Sources tell Rosenthal that the Brewers aren't likely to pay up for a top reliever like George Sherrill. Rosenthal considers the Angels the best fit for Sherrill, but doesn't say whether they're actually interested.
  • The Braves probably won't discuss Tim Hudson; they'll need him for next year.
  • Rosenthal wonders whether the Phillies will entertain trades for Brett Myers in the offseason.
  • The Phillies inquired on some interesting hitters: Matt Holliday, Xavier Nady, and Matt Kemp.
  • The Rockies asked the Orioles about Jeremy Guthrie, but he's not available.
  • The Mets may not consider Casey Blake even of a difference-maker, though Blake is popular on the trade market.

Center Ice to be on Dish again this season.
