It seems like there isn't a lot of information on how to actually setup multiple LNB's on one dish. I have read through Linuxman's thread on receiving the whole Ku arc, and others like it, and while they are very informative and useful, they seem to be more like a running narrative of what is being done, not how it is being done. Can someone please point me in the right direction (threads, websites, etc.) that have more detailed explanations on how to setup multiple LNB's? I feel like I get the general idea of how to start, but there are a lot of details that no one seems to explain. If there isn't any information on making a bracket, then I would like to know where to buy a decent bracket. Also information on actually attaching the LNB's and how to align them would be nice. I feel like this would be a good FAQ topic....

Sorry if I missed a thread somewhere with all this info :)

May be you want to see the thead "pics of the dish farm...post yours too :) " to look many images of real and functioning dishes with multiple lnbs.

My experience says : One lnb central, 2nd lnb to the right to 6 degrees, and other to rthe left 6 degrees too, (e.g.: 87W-93W-99W)

I recommend you magnigyro´s dish farm;)

Regards

From what I have gathered, 4-6 degrees of LNB separation seems to be the best way to go. BUT, how do I figure out how to position each LNB? Pictures are extremely helpful, but they don't show me how to figure out the exact elevation and azimuth for each LNB. I can guess approximate locations for each one, but I would rather find the theoretical alignment values for each LNB and then try to set it up rather than just sticking some LNB's on a bracket and spending hours moving them around until I finally get the right bird on each LNB

reading material:

I have posted many times, how to calculate the LNB locations.
Then, once you have a rough idea where to start, finding the hot spot isn't so hard.
It's all based on the calculations MJflash did here on the board, a couple of years ago.

I've brought it up and linked to it in several of those Linuxman multi-LNB threads
And again in WescoPC's great thread of two birds at 2° spacing, I linked over to an AMC21 thread (pages 4 & 5), where I posted tables of spacing distances for various locations.

AWESOME! I can't wait to read the details in these threads later tonight. I knew there had to be some old threads about it, but it just takes so long to go through all the posts and find the good info hidden inside all the side conversations that happen in threads. I can't wait to get this next FTA project started.

I have a mast with a P* dish on it about 9 feet above the ground, and I think I ought to be able to get another dish on the same mast just below the top dish using some U-bolts or some kind of clamp. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out how to get it mounted. The second dish will still be about 7.5 or 8 feet above ground so I should still have LOS.

I take a less scientific approach. I set my birdog on a strong transponder as dictated in The List (you can use a small television and an FTA receiver too). Then I hook an LNB up to it. Then I start moving the LNB around the area I think I should see a signal while watching the Q level. Once I know where I need to be I fabricate a bracket and bolt it down. A certain about of tweaking including bending the bracket sometimes is required. I know it may seem a bit crude but it works every time for me. My 119 (NASA), 123, 129 dish has been in operation for over a year using that method.
