Does anyone know if the ability to watch a show recorded on a different DVR on your home network, ala TiVO, is something planned for the DirecTV DVRs?

It is something in the works, but no ETA. I would say there is a good chance you could have this feature in 2009.

Thats great news. My wife would never let us switch to Direct unless they had this feature.

If you are interested in this feature, there are some early tests happening in the Cutting Edge program. You can visit that forum for info about it, as it can only be discussed in that forum.

And also remember that DirecTV also has the Direct2PC application where you can watch recorded content on a PC connected to your home network (not via the internet) and is in public beta, check the DirecTV support forums on the D* web site on how to get the client. Be warned though that you need a fairly 'beefy' PC, it takes a lot of resources to decode HD content.
