Sources: Deal to send Boozer to Chicago in the works!

Another major multi-team trade might be looming in the NBA with the Portland Trail Blazers, Utah Jazz and Chicago Bulls having discussed a deal that would be headlined by Carlos Boozer and Kirk Hinrich, according to NBA front-office sources.

Sources with knowledge of the three-team proposal confirmed that there have been substantive talks aimed at landing Boozer in Chicago, Hinrich in Portland and Tyrus Thomas in Utah.

A deal featuring those main components would deliver the elite low-post scorer that the Bulls have been chasing for years in Boozer while also positioning them to have significant salary-cap space for the summer of 2010 to court Chicago native Dwyane Wade or Chris Bosh in free agency, since Boozer is entering the final year of his contract.

I don't know if I would give up on Beasley THIS easy....

This is getting ALOT of talk down here. It was said that Sloan craves Beasley, BUT loves Adonis Haslem. I would EASILY throw in there Haslem/Blount or a Haslem/O'Neal for Boozer.....but Beasley?!! I am sure D. Wade know ALOT more than anyone else is Beasley is ready or not.

NBA Trade Rumor: Carlos Boozer to Miami
By Andrew Katz

Game 7 for D-Wade...
Up until July, Orlando’s Otis Smith and Toronto’s Bryan Colangelo were the two most proactive GM’s in the League. But now, Dwyane Wade is coming for that crown. After lobbying for Allen Iverson, Wade is now reportedly working on getting Carlos Boozer to the Heat.

If AI ends up in Memphis and Boozer heads to Chicago, Wade has Rob Kurz, and a couple of guys who hoop at West 4th in his sights as Plan C, D, E and F.

Trade talk between the Heat and Jazz over power forward Carlos Boozer is increasing, according to the Deseret News.

Dwyane Wade is to a degree lobbying for Miami to make a trade for his Olympic teammate.

This rumor popped up about an hour after we read a Miami Herald article in which Wade is quoted calling Beasley “slow-footed.”

Wade said it would be ”tough” for Beasley to play a lot at [small forward]: “You’ve got guys at the [small forward] position who are super-quick and fast. Beasley is slow-footed.”

B-Easy has put in work on that weakness this summer, playing against the quicker Dorell Wright and Daequan Cook. But if Pat Riley believes that Wade isn’t 100% behind Beasley’s maturation process, maybe he’d be smart to offer him up for Boozer. Ultimately, every one of Miami’s moves is geared towards keeping their star happy, and on South Beach.

We tried out a couple of trades in ESPN’s Trade Machine. Here’s what worked:

* Michael Beasley and Udonis Haslem for Carlos Boozer
* Michael Beasley and Jermaine O’Neal for Carlos Boozer and Andrei Kirilenko

Utah’s motivation to make either one of these moves would be about money just as much as it is about basketball. They’re about $15 million over the cap right now, and haven’t even dealt with the Paul Millsap situation. If they’re going to match the $33 million sheet Portland offered Millsap, they need to send Boozer out of town this week.

Both Haslem and O’Neal have expiring contracts. If the Jazz worked out that second option, in which they trade AK-47 and Boozer for Beasley and J.O., they’d have about $13 million in cap space heading into the 2010 summer to add onto a roster including Deron Williams, Michael Beasley, Paul Millsap, CJ Miles, Eric Maynor, and Ronnie Brewer. That’s enough to go after an elite shooting guard.

Miami could compete in the East right now with a lineup of Mario Chalmers, Dwyane Wade, Andrei Kirilenko, Carlos Boozer and Mark Blount.

GM of the year…. Dwyane Wade?!

Looks like Orlando has matched the Mavericks offer to Gortat. That's a pretty expensive price to pay for a back-up to Howard. I've been waiting for Houston to come in and give him a pot of gold with Yao gone but it looks like he's going to be a back-up for the rest of his career barring anykind of trade.

Post toasted: Dallas Mavericks' bid for Gortat foiled by Magic | Sports News | News for Dallas, Texas | Dallas Morning News

i fully expect gortat and that $8 million trade exemption obtained in the turk trade to be traded for a super star (chris bish, maybe). the magic can trade gortat starting december 15 and i fully expect something to happen.

Frustrated Lakers Pull $27 Million Offer to Odom

LAS VEGAS -- Lamar Odom and the Los Angeles Lakers had reached an agreement on annual salary before the Lakers pulled out of contract talks with their versatile sixth man, sources with knowledge of the talks said on Tuesday.

Sources told ESPN.com that Odom and the Lakers had reached an accord entering the weekend on a per-season wage of $9 million for the 29-year-old. But Odom balked at L.A.'s unwillingness to extend an offer spanning more than three years in length and spent the past few days weighing his options.

The Los Angeles Times reported on its Web site earlier Tuesday night that Lakers owner Jerry Buss, upset that he was still waiting for Odom's response, has decided to take the offer off the table. Yet one source told ESPN.com that Odom was never given a deadline to accept or pass on the Lakers' three-year, $27 million pitch.

...from the same article...

One source close to the process said Odom, in that scenario, would likely favor a return to the Heat, which would be a strong statement by Miami management to 2010 free agent-to-be Dwyane Wade. The Heat could theoretically sign Odom, trade for Utah's Carlos Boozer and then re-sign Boozer in the summer of 2010 without needing salary-cap space because Miami would own Boozer's Bird rights. Those moves would set Wade up to be flanked by two quality forwards and almost certainly enhance the Heat's chances of convincing their star to stay.

Orlando Lands True Power Forward- Lance.... errr Brandon Bass

Orlando Magic land Brandon Bass, a power forward willing to do the dirty work in the paint - OrlandoSentinel.com

The Magic and unrestricted free agent Brandon Bass agreed to a four-year deal worth $18 million, an NBA source confirmed. The contract gives Bass the option to opt out after the 2011-12 season.

To sum up the Magic's offseason: They've lost Hedu Turkaglu, Courtney Lee and Rafer Alston. They've gained: Vince Carter and Brandon Bass.

Here's how I see the Magic's starting O:

PG- Jameer Nelson
SG- Vince Carter
SF- Rashard Lewis
PF- Brandon Bass
C- Dwight Howard

Bench:

Pietrus, Gortot, Reddick

With the losses of Turk and Lee, I think the Cavs matchup better with them this year. Especially with the addions of Shaq and Parker.

Either way, the East is going to be top heavy again this year. In no particular order, Boston, Cleveland and Orlando will be 1a, 1b and 1c going into the season.

If the heat miraculously pull off a deal and get Boozer and Kirilenko, you got to add them to that list....

Suns Buy-Out Ben Wallace & Expected to Dump Sasha Pavlovic

The Suns completed a contract buyout Monday for Wallace, whom they acquired for such financial motivation in the Shaquille O'Neal trade in June. The Suns negotiated a $10 million buyout for a contract that would have paid him $14 million this season.

The O'Neal deal with Cleveland ultimately could be worth $18 million to the Suns in payroll and tax savings if the other acquired player, Sasha Pavlovic, is waived. He has only $1.5 million guaranteed in a $4.95 million salary but could be an attractive trade chip.

Suns complete buyout of Wallace

Looks like the Shaq to Cleveland trade was nothing more than a money saving move by Phoenix.
