New pc build.

I don't have huge needs for max speed but I have bigger better faster more disease. I just don't have the wallet to keep up with it
in todays world you have to re mortgage the house to build a pc!!! and with all of the issues with intel with the i9 series and the core ultra series now is a hell of a time to be building a pc:biggrin. thankfully i had no issues!!! i'm gonna keep this thing for 6 years i think...

Yeah, pricing for top of the line hardware is outrageous

This is useful information and dispels a rumor from earlier in the thread.
also from what i heard from a tech friend of mine. alot of motherboards don't support 5th gen ssd speeds in the m.2 slots on the board itself they need a pcie card connected to a 5th gen pcie slot. just another thing to consider...

also anther reason i went with top of the line hardware i want to hold onto it for a while.
That's what I've always done. Even the bill I'm working off of now that I'm upgrading, I built that four years ago and spent about $5500 but that was a ground up build. Case, power supply, etc. just the cost of the newest processor and motherboard alone would be way above what I spent last time. Well worth it, no question. But that's money. I can't afford to spend on a computer right now and maybe not for a while.

Given Intel's penchant for coming out with a new socket configuration with each generation of processor, I've always gravitated towards AMD. If I were going to pay over $5 grand for a system, I think it would probably be one that I could upgrade at least one generation of CPU if I wanted to.

The initial benchmarks also bother me with respect to Intel as there often seems to be some issue that Windows patches that either slows down Intel processors or speeds up AMD processors.

Agreed. I've shied away from Watercooling, and with AMD, in the past, I had higher CPU temps than with Intel. I could go back to AMD, but then I'd be more inclined to switch to Water and water in a PC still freaks my old-school butt out

when i built mine i just told myself i'm never going to build another pc and this was my last one :D. i also told myself that if i was going to dump money into it i might as well build another new one instead of dumping money into this one and convert this one to an E-mail machine!!! it's not cheap building a pc right now it's even worse if you want flagship parts like me.. my ram upgrade is over 400 bucks on top of what i already spent!!! it just made more sense to spend a boat load of money now and cry a little than not to and cry harder later on :D :facepalm

I found the best unit for Cryptocurrency generation.

Then it turned out to just be generated in the holosuite.

That's how I feel sometimes, reading about stuff I USED TO be up to speed on. I built many computers for others and self.

Haven't quite weaned myself off PCs.
