Used to do FTA years ago. Been out a lot time. Picked up a "free" GTMedia receiver the other day. Is it any good to use?

to SatelliteGuys and Welcome back to FTA.Those receivers were shipping with firmware designed to hack(steal) payed services. Other than that I don't know much about them anymore.
I have a couple somewhere here a in a junk box. As I remember they had some issues and support wasn't good.
What dish do you have? C-Band? Ku ? Both? What channels or satellite are you after?
I have a freesat v7hd. It works great, can't beat the price. Never had a problem with it. Right now my dish is parked on 97w but as soon as the snow melts here i'm putting out my other dishes. Last year my setup was 103w for nbc on a 1.2m geosatpro dish, 91w c band on a 1.2m prime focus dish, 97w on a 36" dish.
right now, don't have an extra dish. playing some with an old D***network dish. looking to buy into another system. like I said been out a while but wanting to get back in.
You won't get much with the old Dish Network dish. Most channels have gone to DVB-S2 which requires a larger dish. About 90cm to get the bulk of Ku. This is a good combo for a good price and it comes with an LNB: geosat pro 90cm dish | eBay
