Hello Im just getting started in FTA and was wondering if you can get national news feeds like ABC NBC CBS using a fta reciever with a 18" dish? Or do I have to get a 30" dish.

Yes it would be 30" or larger for some feeds. However why not just put up and OTA antenna?
How far are you from a major city that broadcasts locals?

you would need a 30" dish minimum. There are lots of news feeds up there. Around the supper hour they usually light up with "top story" news feeds from around the US. Most last a few minutes but if something big breaks (ie: weather like tornado, flood, etc) there are feeds that stay up for days

When the I35W bridge collapsed in Minneapolis last year (still surreal to me and folks who live here to see the bridge gone), feeds were up for DAYS. Uncut, uncensored, raw whatever you want to call them.
