Okay, I have the P* set up, tv and reciever (Coolsat 5k) by the dish. I am trying for G10 and am having no luck whatsoever. I set the elevation using my angle finder on the mount ( it matches up pretty good with the scale on the mount itself) I've gone from 180 degrees ( due south) to 90 degrees east without a sniff of signal. I've added a degree of inclination and did it again. Added two and did it again. Nothing. The dish itself skews, do I need to skew it? I'm not moving it a lot at a time, just a little I know it is touchy.

I have the reciever set on a Vertical transponder as I am using the Vertical side of the P* LNB.

I'll add some pics if need be. Thanks Y'all.

use the elevation scale on the dish. P* dishes are offset (usually) so you have to take that into consideration

Also the LNB needs to be skewed properly or it wont work. That skew seems like a lot. I'm at 93.5W and it is only about 30 skew for me.

If all else fails, try a blind scan. Scan all and see what pops up. I've had issues with the P* LNB's and found if skewed wrong, I got H when I needed V polarity so I got the H stuff on 127 (which is very strong)

I think I know what I am doing wrong, but I am not going to say until I try it. Let's just say I think I am looking at the wrong point in the sky. :eureka

Instead of turning the LNB could I just skew the whole dish? 90 is level, that would mean I would skew to 120 on the scale, correct?

does the dish skew? If it can, that is what I would do

if standing behind the dish, the left side of the dish would be higher

Think you need to be going west ?

Wyr

Okay, I have the P* set up, tv and reciever (Coolsat 5k) by the dish. I am trying for G10 and am having no luck whatsoever. I have the reciever set on a Vertical transponder as I am using the Vertical side of the P* LNB.

I'll add some pics if need be. Thanks Y'all.

yeah you need to go west. :)

according to the list above, 232 is where you need to be

225 is SW so a smidge W off SW :)

Think you need to be going west ?

Wyr

Exactly. I misunderstood the chart..I didn't understand that for my position I would need to point at MAGNETIC 232.2.
I am currently trying to aim at MAGNETIC 123.

I am embrassed to say the least. :shocked

Got something...just don't know what. Only have channels on Tp1, and they're all scrambled. I've looked and looked at the lyngsat charts and I don't see them anywhere...

The list:

1-skl1
2- daai
3- cqtv
4- csgd

ETC...

Where the heck am i?

so that was 127 so youre close

Sounds like you're just getting the H polarity stuff. I would go back to there, hook the cable ot the other output on the LNB and move it 4 degrees east and G10 should be there

Stogie you should get something without raising the dish, its only 4degrees..
But you're in the neighborhood now, once you hit the G10 you can raise it up a bit.
Once you see how touchy it is, it wont be so hard to find the next time. And mark the position on the pole with a marker or something too.

I have 127 marked...and I raised the dish and moved again..no dice. adjusted the skew difference...nothing. Grrrrrr...

Hey I just looked back and saw that dual-lnb setup-if thats what you're using now, are you getting horiz and vertical from one lnb, or vert frm one and Horiz from the other?
That may make it harder to aim..
charles

No I have a single LNB arm I swapped it out with....just using one now...I snapped a couple of pics...the sun is in the way but here it is...I centered the camera in the dish and snapped this....this is about the best one...

Turbosat ( and me) think I might have a tree problem.
