Paramount +

Advertisements
As long as your not seeing them during the show, IF you are, then the don't have you on the correct plan.

I don't mind something like that (a Promo) for thier own stuff BEFORE the show starts.
Yeah - it was nothing during the shows. Just the ads at the beginning that I then needed to skip. I didn't realize there was a difference between ads and promos.

I find this is typical of other "ad-free" service plans from AppleTV, Peacock, Disney+, etc. Seems pretty consistent across the industry that promos for other content on a given platform are not considered ads, despite what customers may think.

I don't mind them as long as they are not breaking up the action during the show/movie.

I didn't realize others did this as well. Previously I have only done a streaming service if I could get a great deal, usually a Black Friday deal, and these were always for a full year with ads. This is my first time trying an ad-free service.

I prefer them, those promos are how I discover new shows, Mobland was the latest I watched because of them.

totally agree - I'm good with this strategy as it's also how i discover new shows

they're always skippable and easy to ignore. if i'm binging something, it's only the first show that has the trailer ad and then after that, there are none.

They haven't always been skippable. The last time I had paramount plus they weren't skippable.

I remember when they tried that and they got a lot of complaints and brought the SKIP button back. Though there is no proof the complaints made them do it.

I never saw unskippable promos on AppleTV 4K, but enough people were complaining about it, I confirmed the behavior on my Roku Ultra. I suspect it was either an A-B test to see if people complained about it, or it was an accidental change made only to certain code-bases that was then fixed with a patch.

I got a somewhat cryptic email from P+ about price increases and how that increase would be reflected in my renewal coming June 6. What's odd, is that they tell you to go ahead and cancel, but they did not elaborate why. The actuality is, if you do cancel, you can re-subscribe at $119 a year, as opposed to $139.00. But again ,the email does not tell you that. So I'm trying to decide about renewing annually or not at all. Below is the email I received:

THE PRICE OF YOUR PLAN IS CHANGING

Dear Kent,

Thank you for being a valued Paramount+ subscriber.

We are writing to let you know that on January 15, 2026, we increased the price of our Premium annual plan for new customers to $139.99 /year (plus tax where applicable). As an existing customer, this new price will also apply to you beginning with your renewal on June 4, 2026.

To avoid renewal, you can cancel your subscription at any time before this date by visiting paramountplus.com/account, clicking on "Cancel Subscription", and following the instructions, unless you have subscribed through an app store or third-party partner (e.g., Roku or Comcast), in which case you will need to manage your subscription in your app store account or through your third-party partner. If you cancel, you will have access to Paramount+ until the end of your current billing period.

If you have any questions about your updated plan price, visit our help center and click the blue chat bubble at the bottom of the screen to chat with an agent.

If you click cancel is that where you see that you can get it for $119? If so my guess is the $119 per year offer is incentive not to cancel. The price increase didn't affect you yet because you were in the middle of your annual subscription.

I think what that email meant was If you Cancelled Before the January Date, you'd get the $115 price because you were then in a contract for the year.

I assume, maybe wrongly, that it was a recent email he got from P+. If he would have canceled before the January price increase he would still have P+ until the end of his annual subscription on June 6.
