Hey guys. I have been away with a new career and haven’t been involved with satellite for the past 5 years. I have an issue. May be an easy one but don’t know.
I have Directv HR24-500 and a Genie HR54/200. Bought a new Sony 65” XBR 900e. Both are obviously connected via HDMI and the TV up converts HD to near 4K.
Settings for the two receivers are identical. The picture from the HR24 is far superior than the Genie. It’s really noticeable and I’m not sure why.
I’ve double checked setting on the tv and set identical to each input.
Any help?

So you are connecting the 24 and the 54 to the same tv, yes? Have you tried swapping the inputs being used?

I have swapped the inputs and on the tv and the quality follows the input. HR24 is far better. Not quite sure as to why.

Are you sure you have the HR54 set for the correct resolution? It’s not enough that you set the resolution in the menu, you also need to select Audio/Video from the Info banner and select change resolution and format to actually set the correct resolution.

You probably already have done this, but I had trouble when we first began installing 54’s with the resolution being wrong, because in the past, you could set it from the menu. Just making sure you are not experiencing the same thing I did.

I have checked the resolution on the genie. Showing all checked up to 1080i as well as checked the in the info banner. I cycled thru from 480i all the way up to 1080p. There is quality difference between the setting as I scroll through. The only thing I haven’t done is try a different cable which I will try soon
