So I was looking around and ran across this, Rainier Encore D9865H and was wondering if they are any good? They don't show much for a channel line up either. I thought I'd ask and see if anybody has one?

I'm just going to through in my two cents. As far as this new service he is selling it will go nowhere because the receiver can only get powervu channels and FTA. If you look at lyngsat and other list site there would a whole lot of programming you can not sub to with this unit .Example Hbo , Showtime , Discovery Channels , and Viacom channels . This is do to the fact that they use the Digicipher 2 platform. Also he comes from this scam from years ago : hxxps://rickcaylor.websitetoolbox.com/post/beware-glentech-c-band-forever-4dtv-online-5827411. ops please delete if I have said to much.

We are open to talk about the company and their product on the forum, but a Google search of the company and its owner will quickly show why I and members on this and all other major satellite forums choose not to... The links provided in the Google results will definitely provide an accurate insight on this matter.

Another interesting resource is the waybackmachine at Internet Archive: Digital Library of Free & Borrowable Books, Movies, Music & Wayback Machine. This historical webpage capture website provides a permanent snapshot, which is very revealing on how their website history is rewritten and shaped to fit the current channel offerings, timelines and products that they sell, promote or attack.

Other than products and information that promote theft of service, I am not aware of any subjects or companies that are banned from discussion on Satelliteguys...

Yes, talk of him has not been banned here. Maybe some would like that. :D
...but how would we educate the newbies?
Brian pretty much laid it out, as well as others.
Best to stay away, but if you have money to burn and just have to have an old non DVR receiver that is priced higher than Apple's prices...

In a few hours, news of this thread will be posted on their forum with the title, SatelliteGuys Forum Ruthlessly and Brutally Leads the Continuous Coordinated Attack on the Savior of Satellite". They always seem to be throwing a perpetual pity party... LOL!!!

No, we are simply suggesting that interested parties use available web resources to learn about the company and their business practices. :)

Holy crap I was just thinking about posting the same exact thing. Every time a thread is started about them on this site or another, it is usually mere hours before a new post is made over there about how wrong it is. It will go into how Charlie is once again pouring money into SatelliteGuys to ruin C-Band. :D

From the little I've read elsewhere, they're selling an outdated receiver that can only descramble PowerVu. They're also pushing the (false) narrative that most, if not all FTA stations will be "scrambling" in the near future.

Fake news, indeed.

LOL!!! I know! I always get a kick out of their "crazy uncle" conspiracy theories and especially about how "Charlie" controls our FTA forum discussions.

It would seem to me that in our promotion of watching FTA with its availabilty of UHD/HD feeds, backhauls and the popularity of FTA during the rapid increase of "cable cutting", this would result in a decrease of Dishnetwork subscriptions (translation = hurt "Charlie".

Not sure if we are naively complacent on how we are contributing to killing off C-band..., but if true, I want a paycheck! $$$$$$$$$ LOL

Yes, it really bothers me that they actually celebrate if a FTA channel encrypts or leaves. Never an announcement of new channels added or revealing that the technology of the legacy receiver is not capable of receiving many of the FTA services, performing a blind scan or even recording... :(

If memory serves me, the wonderful guys at RS came in here and saw posts where a particular MUX of cable channels were running in the clear and they called and complained they were running ITC and in a few days, they were encrypted again. Nice guys they are. Perhaps it's time to return the favor by banning their IP address, that way they can't get in here to spy on us. :) Scott could handle that. LOL

That only goes so far; my cell phone changes IP's multiple times a day. The IP block really only works for blocking static IP's.

Remember lose lips sink ships. :)

Most of the dish guys come in on their own devices and normally on their off time.

They do monitor the main dish forum 24/7 though as problems are normally reported there before they make it through the agents. But that’s about all they do here.

When I moderated a Yahoo Chat forum, I had software that mined out the IP as well as their MAC address and banned both. Didn't matter if it was a static IP or not. The MAC address never changes even though the IP might. :)

So true. Maybe we should start spreading the word on ITC channels by PM only. :)

The issue was that someone posted it in the regular open FTA forum which is available to google for indexing.

If I remember correctly that mux was found and shut off as someone from Dish was searching on Google and saw it. They didn’t even come to the site to find it.

It was the reason we created the What’s Up There forum which is only seen and available to those who want to see it, are logged in and opt in to the forum to see it.

For most dish guys that is too much work and above their pay grade. :)

  1. I don't know how tech savy you are, but you may want to consider this receiver Titanium Satellite - Store from Titanium Satellite (4K) or the AMIKO from KE4EST and I think Scott sells receivers as well. Any of those guys will take care of you if you buy from them. :)
