Retro Television Network (RTV) on Dish?

Are there any plans for RTV to be carried via Dish?--either some national feeds and/or added in with locals for DMAs with RTV? Are there any rumors (or anything official) where Dish and RTV have discussed possible options?

...Sure would be nice... I bet that RTV would get more viewers compared to some of the channels dish carries right now.

I know RTV is available FTA (both OTA and satellite) but I live too far away from Atlanta to pick up locals OTA and can't justify a whole FTA satellite system to pick up one channel... It would be my luck to get the whole thing setup and then have a PR from Dish and RTV....

Sorry, there is nothing on the radar for a national RTV feed on Dish. I haven't seen or heard anything about it. It is available OTA in many cities in the US.

As an aside, there is a channel called "Retro" on Dish right now, but this is RetroPlex movie channel. So don't let anyone confuse you into believing that Dish has RTV already.

Only way that you will most likely get this would be if a local station carries it OTA. This net went in around the time that the Paramount & WB nets merged into the CW and left a bunch of stations w/o an affiliation for programming.

yep its FTA...well worth it IMO

The thing also is in some markets RTV is customized due to syndex issues with other networks in the market. Most affiliates that carry RTV have the National feed but approx 30 or so affiliates have a customized setup for them

Used to get it on Dish via a local station WSAH in Bridgeport, CT but they dropped it after a few months. It was on from July 1st to Mid-September 2009 but was likely only a stunt because their license was up for renew and I hear the FCC doesn't like stations that are purely paid programming which is what it is

Only because the Knoxville channel 7's PRIMARY programming (on its main channel) is RTV.

Are there ANY instances in the country where Dish (or DirecTV) locals are carrying a "sub-channel"? CW and "My" (as well as RTV) are carried on sub-channels in several smaller TV markets.

Yes, Dish carries the Telemundo subchannel here in Austin I believe.

Dish carries a few CW/MY subchannels in locals (especially when contract time comes up and the "main" network holds their CBS/NBC/ABC/FOX hostage until Dish adds the subchannel)

I put up a big antenna, here in Boston, to pick up Providence, RI digitals. Works perfect. Ch 10-2 in Prov, RI is a National RTV feed

Then, a local channel here in Boston, Chnl 62 (Used to be Home shopping), is doing RTV with a local schedule.

It overlaps the national schedule about 60%. The rest is shows not on the national feed, which is very cool.

I grab quite a bit from both on my Tivo and send them to my NAS device (4.5 TB of them so far and counting). I build out a Tivo meta file for each show using Metagenerator 2.6 (Excellent program).

I am currently scarfing 'Run for your life', 'It takes a thief', 'Bold Ones', 'Kraft Suspense Theatre' and 'Peter Gunn'. Almost have all of each!!!

Here in Cleveland, it is only on a low power analog channel, and the transmitter is well south of the main antenna farm, meaning most antennas are not positioned to receive it. I really wish Dish could have a ION like deal, with a single national feed remapped to the appropriate place.

Those of us that live in the San Francisco Bay Area still cannot get the channel. Originally it was slated to go to one of the KRON- Channel 4 sub-channels. That never happened. Most recently, RTV's web site says the channel will appear on KCNS - 38 or one of it's subs, however to-date that's never occured. I've sent e-mails to both RTV and KCNS, but no one replies. Can't understand why one of the largest TV markets in the US still has no RTV.

In the SF Bay area it's suppose to be a sub-channel of a local station. The sub-channel is there, OTA, but there is nothing on it, just a blank screen.

I like RTV but I would like it even better if they had a bit more variety. Even in the case of shows they do carry they often only show a handful of episodes and sometimeds repeat an episode in a week or two.

I put up an OTA antenna in my attic just to get RTV about a year ago. I didn't watch it much because I ran the coax into another input on the TV's and it was a pain to switch (truthfully, I'd forget it was there). Now with my new equipment it is right in the guide. Awesome!

Where I live, OTA is not an option... Distance wise, we are on the fringe with a high gain directional antenna. But when you factor terrain and nearby foliage, the 'predict-o-reception' meter drops to 'forget it dude' on the websites. ...something like we would need an antenna 150 feet in the air. And I just can't justify a whole FTA sat system just for RTV... (and the way FTA satellite is going, who knows if it will even be around in the years to come)

I would be more for the national feeds as opposed to Dish carrying so many sub-channels. (more bandwidth left for HD channels).

If anybody at Dish and/or RTV is listening....

I get it in Buffalo with a paperclip as an antenna...guess that isn't bad. Back when it was RTN, Dish carried it as it was actually an analog channel of its own (although a digital subchannel of ABC's affiliate). That channel, WNGS, isn't broadcasting anymore though and NBC's affiliate picked up RTV as a subchannel.
