I just installed the Sirius JVC KT-SR2000 with the KS-K6012 car docking kit, and it works great, but today I noticed the unit itself was very warm after being on for about an hour.

This is powered with 12v via the car's lighter socket, and my first thought was maybe the socket was feeding too much juice, but I can't seem to locate my voltage meter at the moment to check it. But really, how much more current could it be supplying? It's a 12v system to the dash, so...

I was wondering if anyone else had the same unit and could confirm that it runs hot. If not, I'll probably have to find an alternate way to feed the 12v.

Welcome to Satelliteguys.us. :) Please share your thoughts on satellite radio.

Yes, the JVC and all of the plug and plays will run warm to the touch. Hot to me means you cannot touch it without pain. If that is the case you have problems, but what I think you are experiencing is completely normal.

It's very warm, not hot to the point that it's painful to touch or smells like it's burning or anything, so you've put my mind at ease, thanks.
