This is it for Star Trek Srange New Worlds right?

No a 6 episode season 5 to wrap things up after season 4

Why a short season? Why not a "regular" season? (not that they're long anyway...)

British 6 episode seasons disease coming here... Crazy.

Finances and ownership was going to cancel it with the ownership changes. Producers got them to give a shortened season to tie things up. Ownership changes mean the Kirk spinoff won't be happening either as they've already dismantled and destroyed the sets.

Hope they wrap the series up in a nice neat bow.

Hope they wrap the series up in a nice neat bow.

This could extend to the whole franchise of Trek serials.

Supposedly that is what the 6 episode Season 5 order is intended to do. They already finished filming Season 5 a few months ago and all the sets have been dismantled.

Well, hopefully it'll get good enough ratings (hopefully really good episodes) so that they'll do another series. Otherwise, it'll be like the movie franchise...

[klang]

If the sets are already gone that would indicate the rumored Kirk series won't be happening.

So, what, no new Trek at all after season 5?

Nope. One more season of Starfleet academy and season 4 and 5 of strange new worlds then that's it.

I'm sure something will come along eventually. Too valuable a property not to do something. I'm hoping for some new creative blood.

I read somewhere recently that Andy Weir (of The Martian fame) submitted a series proposal to Paramount and they showed no interest.

The only one that has come out of this is Section 31on Paramount+. I heard they may make a series with the Kirk character from Strange New Worlds.

[long_time_Dish]

Well, that would be something... Otherwise, the franchise grinds to a halt again. And Section 31 wasn't something I'd really think of as Trek.

New season 4 starts Thursday July 23, 2026 on Paramount. 10 episodes with the finale on Sept 24, 2026. The 5th season will have 6 episodes and it will bring the total for the series up to 46 episodes. Filming for season 5 is finished and the sets are already gone. It will premier sometime in 2027.

For those of us in Canada, it airs the same day at 9 p.m. EDT on the CTV Sci-Fi Channel.
