That pretty much came to a screeching halt with the advent of shows going direct to streaming.Yeah, ok, I get it, money is always the bottom line, but at the same time, they've always had 20+ episodes per season on TV.
Yep, and most of the Star Wars-related shows and MCU-related shows have been only 8 episodes each. It's rather sad to see a "season" of a series only 8-10 hours (relatively speaking) of screen time. That pretty much came to a screeching halt with the advent of shows going direct to streaming.
Disco started with 15 episodes and worked its way down to ten. Picard and Lower Decks were each ten episodes per season.
To be aired in 2030 I'll bet...Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' to End With a Shortened Season 5

‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ to End With a Shortened Season 5
Paramount+ orders a final season of the series ahead of its third season premiere.www.hollywoodreporter.com
Yep, that seems to be their thinking by delaying two years (adding in the strike delays). However, I'm still planning on watching part 1 of the cliff-hanger this weekend sometime to get it in before s3 starts next month...To be aired in 2030 I'll bet...
They did everything they could to kill this one. Short seasons to start with, and then ending on a cliff-hanger, and not coming back for two YEARS? What a bunch of idiots.
Thanks, I resubscribed for the 99 cent promo.A heads up for those who don't subscribe to Paramount+ full-time:
Paramount+ has a deal going that expires on July 13th for 99 cents/month for either ads or ad-free for the first two months. Unless you're deathly afraid that you'll forget to unsubscribe in the second month, I can't recommend going with the ads version.
This could conceivably carry you through the entirety of season 3 (season finale on September 11). It seems like there may be something debuting after that, but you'll probably have to pay full price for that.
On the Apple front, I see and offer on Amazon Prime (and perhaps elsewhere) for AppleTV+ for $4.99/month for two months (longer than I've ever subscribed).
