TNA Impact, PPV's discussion

*Spoiler* Hogan’s “Big Announcement” On This Week’s Impact Hulk Hogan made a “big announcement” at Tuesday’s Impact Wrestling taping in Orlando, Florida (airing this Thursday on SPIKE TV). As Eric Bischoff promised last week on Twitter, the program will feature all-new elements.Impact Wrestling will hold “Open Fight Night” once per month as a wrestler not affiliated with TNA Wrestling will have the opportunity to earn a roster spot by competing in a match. Based on the non-affiliated wrestler’s performance, three judges (including Hogan) will decide whether he or she receives a contract.During “Open Fight Night,” any TNA wrestler can challenge any wrestler on the roster, including champions. Those challenged must be ready to fight. The Television Championship currently held by Devon will be defended every week on Impact Wrestling.

TNA News: Hulk Hogan unloads on Twitter, says TNA should be live, looking for next big evolution in wrestling
TNA storyline GM Hulk Hogan took to Twitter early Saturday morning asking for fan input on Open Fight Night and whatever else is needed in TNA. Responding to one fan's questions about Impact Wrestling going live, Hogan said it "would solve 75% of the issues," but to do so would require more money. Hogan also claims he has "been beating that drum for the last 2yrs."Later, Hogan posted several tweets in a row about what he wants to do, saying, "Getting my head really wrapped around the fan business requests and how to transition Impact Wrestling beyond the Mania, Attitude era, nWo era. Not just grow in a black beard or just switch a title or just verbally say were changing, I'm talking about really changing [the] foundation to put wrestling in a whole new era. I know I came up with the idea, I'm gonna really flush it out before I drop the bomb on you Maniacs." [Edited for clarity]
Shore's Slant: Where to begin with this. First, TNA does not need a gimmick to get better. TNA needs stable storylines built around stars that aren't switching from heel to babyface three times within the same show. They need to find "their guy" and push him to the moon. It can be heel (like Ric Flair in the NWA) or a babyface (like Hogan in WWF) but there must be one person around who the promotion rallys.TNA needs to drop some titles, specifically the TV title and Knockouts tag titles, and develop long arc stories that have been fleshed out instead of guys just showing up and ignoring what their character did the previous week (see Kazarian's heel turn as a prime example). And not for nothing, but somebody tell Hogan it's "fleshed" out, not "flushed" out. Though the latter may have been a Freudian slip on the Hulkster's part.
MELINA VS. MICKIE JAMES SET FOR WWC'S ANNIVERSARY SHOW LATER THIS YEAR

Impact Wrestling Rating, This Week’s Impact Being Re-Aired Next Week
- Thursday’s episode of TNA Impact Wrestling generated a 0.97 rating, down from last week’s 0.98. The show was viewed by 1.31 million viewers, down from last week’s 1.39 million viewers.
- TNA announced that Spike TV would be re-airing Thursday’s episode of TNA Impact Wrestling next week at 6PM CT before the new episode airs. The reason for this is because some viewers were experiencing “technical difficulties.”

REACTION TO HULK HOGAN'S WAY TO TURN AROUND TNA, DID I REALLY SEE WWE DO THAT
I heard from a few people in TNA that were really frustrated by Hulk Hogan's statement yesterday that taking Impact live would solve 75% of the company's issues. They see it as yet another ridiculous statement made by someone who is out of touch with what the company needs to do, yet has a lot of say in the direction of the company. The feeling is that while live shows would be great, the company has much bigger issues to deal with (such as reliance on Hogan himself, the inability to book things properly and the pushing of friends and family over actual talented wrestlers). Given how numbers have dropped since Hulk Hogan replaced Sting and Garett and Eric Bischoff have become a focal point of the show, it's hard to argue with them. And that doesn't take into account the cost involved with going live weekly, which TNA has shown at this time they can't recoup.

TNA has talent. The problem is that with the exception of the girls they are pretty much now just picking up has-beens and putting all the power in their hands. The younger talent then can't get over because all the attention goes on guys like Hogan, Sting or Bischoff. No problem with Sting but his best days are behind him. Going live doesn't solve 75% of the problem because the biggest problem is money and going live requires lots of that. Someone else needs to be in control of creative, too. And I mean REALLY bad... Of course, the WWE needs that, too.

TNA Impact Wrestling Moving to a New Time
TNA and Spike TV issued a press release today announcing that Impact Wrestling will begin airing 1 hour earlier each week, starting May 31st. They cited “more available viewers” and “less sports competition” in the earlier timeslot. SPIKE TV’S “IMPACT WRESTLING” MOVING TO 8:00PM ET/PT ON THURSDAYS BEGINNING MAY 31
Spike TV’s highly-rated two-hour weekly series, TNA’s “IMPACT Wrestling” is moving to a new timeslot. On Thursday, May 31 “IMPACT Wrestling will air at 8:00pm ET/PT, moving from its previous timeslot of 9:00pm ET/PT.The shift to 8:00pm is predicated on the fact that there are more available viewers in the 8:00-10:00pm timeslot with less sports competition in the 8pm hour.TNA’s flagship series, “IMPACT Wrestling,” airs weekly on Spike TV and is one of the network’s top-rated series. The show is must-see-tv with young men and currently ranks among the top series on cable on Thursdays with Men 18-34.The TNA roster features many of the top names in wrestling including Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, Kurt Angle, Bobby Roode, Sting, James Storm, Rob Van Dam, and the lovely and lethal Knockouts. Pruett's Pause: This could be a really great move for TNA. They are constantly losing viewers in their current time-slot and they need something. Bumping the show up one hour gives them a chance to hook viewers in prior to different sporting events beginning (especially with a Thursday night game on NFL network all season long this year)>It could also be a sign that TNA is getting some pressure from the network due to the falling ratings. With a new deal with Spike in place for the next two years, this could be a sign that TNA is experimenting with the formula.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH TNA IN A NUTSHELL
So they send out a press release today talking about Impact moving up an hour and they write: "The shift to 8:00pm is predicated on the fact that there are more available viewers in the 8:00-10:00pm timeslot with less sports competition in the 8pm hour." Who admits that in a press release, if at all?
