What to do about locals?

Hi all,

A little bit of background first. I signed up for DHA24 last March. So far, I have been pretty happy with the service. My plan as discussed with the CSR was to sign up for the Top 250 not only to sample it, but also to receive Versus during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The plan was to switch to Top 120 for summer when we are not watching tv much and then go up to Top 200 or 250 in the fall. The CSR said this was no problem as long as I maintained the Top 120 as minimum. I did not sign up for locals since they were not required and I receive two DMA's OTA already.

Fast forward to today. I went into my on-line programming account only to find out that locals are required now and if I change packages, my current package is no longer available. All right, so I decided I'm not going to whine about $5 per month. Hey, I don't like wasting $5 per month on something I don't want, but so be it.

However, it gets worse. Dish installed a 1000.2 antenna here. My hd locals are on 61.5, so I can not get them. Now that really bothers me. The fact that I am being required to pay for something I can not receive.

So, what should I do? Just continue to pay the extra $5 per month for the next 20 months and walk away? Can I expect any favorable resolution if I call Dish?

Thanks for any advice.

I would contact Dish Network for sure.
Get the proper setup.
Are you 100% sure your HD locals are on the 61.5?

Update! I went into my on-line account today to make the downgrade changes I planned to make for the summer. My basic package price for the Top 120 showed $39.99 per month. But, when I selected 'Top 120' and the page updated to the 'review order' page, my selection was listed as 'Top 120' at $34.99 per month.

Obviously this was without 'locals'. I checked my service after completing the order and I do indeed have Top 120 without locals. Go figure! Anyway, I'm not complaining, since I had no use for the 'locals' anyway.

We'll see what happens when I decide to upgrade in October. ;)
