Who to blame for missing Guide? the provider, Dish or this old geezer?

I don't think Dish will send a technician to adjust the bird unless I am willing to pay some fee. Anybody knows what that might be? Routine visit. No complicated setup.

We have no problem getting a live signal, using dvr and mostly using Joey2s.
Hopper mostly collects dust in the homerun room (drywalled section with its own door under basement stairs). It is connected to a smaller tv which we no longer use. Back then, the biggest tv size was 40 inch. After getting a 75 inch TV about 15 years ago we decided to use a different wall with a Joey2. Moving Hopper to next to this new tv was not possible. The boss does not like to see any cable or box exposed. Joey 2 , HDMI and power cords, bluray player are located behind this wall where an exercise room is located.

Would it make sense to request a tech just to get a two week guide? I am struggling to decide what to do.
I would do it. Not only will you get better guide info, you will get all the channels you're paying for.

It makes perfect sense to request that tech. You are missing more than the guide, you are missing channels as well. I don't think your dish needs to be realigned. I think you have lost the use of one of your LNBs or perhaps the switch built in to the LNB apparatus is defective. Either way it needs to be changed. Now, you have over 20 years with Dish. Ask them to waive any charges for the truck roll. Or perhaps you have the protection plan and that would negate any charge as well.

No protection plan. We switched to welcome pack many years ago when we realized we didn't watch many channels our previous package offered. Welcome pack was one of the least expensive packages. With leased hopper and three joeys the monthly bill was getting a bit pricey. I don't think Dish offer that package anymore. It includes locals.
I will give them a call and see what they say. I hope being a long time customer will help.
Thanks to you all .

Just tell them that you're not getting all the channels that you're paying for and not getting the complete guide. Either come fix it or you'll go to another service.....................unless you're in a contract. Why should you be charged for a failure of their equipment?

hogwash on the contract. how in the hell can they charge an ETF to be let out of it. if the can't fix the issue or won't... and if they refuse fix the issue id'e be filing an FCC complaint and demand to be let go if they don't want to fix the issue. and if that don't work then take legal action.

How do I make sure I am not getting all the channels Welcome pack offers? They no longer offer that. I assume they don't make enough profit.
No contract since we switched. After getting a USB device for locals and sub stations I called to drop locals. Many years ago. They said they wouldn't.
We are not dirt poor. We see no reason to pay for channels we don't care about.
Warning them I am leaving should work!
