Here,here :clap as an ex-E* sub and now back with D* over 3 1/2 years now I totally agree. Nothing like playing channel roulette with Charlie and the boys everytime a new one rolls out.

give it a break same as i have with dish 2 dual tuner dvr hd and a stand alone hd receiver.
Trust me i have not trolling i never post in DTV area i had DTV 1x time in my life back wehn they had ussb.

Considering they don't have dual tuner DVR's it is still a valid question. I had a dual tuner DVR with Dish and only used it on one TV so I did not need two boxes to do what the one did. That is why it is still tough to know what equipment is needed for your setup. Was the deal for the following

2 - HD-DVR's
1 = HD
2 = SD

?????

It is just hard to validate your point when you don't let people know what you are paying for.

You can get phone, hdtv, and internet for not much more than what many people are paying for directv alone right now.

This is not always true for companies. With my cable systems it is cheaper for me to have service from three different providers than it is to have their bundle for the three services. You also say that FIOS is the end all be all, but what about us that don't live in a Verizon area and never will have such a service?

Verzion customer service is a crapshot. Once you get to a human you will find yourself in transfer hell.

Fios offers the best hd quality at any pricepoint.

I had to laugh when I saw that. Nice comeback

Too bad Comcast in my area has more HD channels than Verizon.

I just find it crazy DTV wants me to spend $396.00 to lease my equipment. I understand thay have more HD But damn thats alot of money. And when you factor in 2ys contract WOW.

Why?

With the cost of the lease upgrade fees your subsidising the cost of the equipment. The HD DVR alone would cost well over $600 to buy.

If you think Directv is too expensive then why are you considering it as one of your options? Just cross it off your list and choose another service.

Doesn't everyone have more HD channels than FiOS?

Think it might be because DirecTV has the programming everyone wants.Alot
better than the other guys.

If you want some extra channels of stretch o vision as opposed to top notch picture quality, more local channels in hd in most markets, the ability to use tivo hd, a much more robust on demand offering and dvr and media sharing, that's your choice.

Well it looks like Dish is going to be able to make AMC 14 work which is a good thing,so now you can stay with Dish and be happy with the programming you have or don't have.Good Luck!

I think you will find most fios users would not give up their service for a few channels they do not get. Too many advantages.

Questioner, if you've already answered this question before, please accept my apology for asking it again, but here it is:

Do you have FIOS service for your television now?

If so, great, good for you. If not, why do you come onto a D* oriented site and praise them so much while constantly bitching about/badmouthing D*?

The main reason that most of us do not have it is because it's not even available in the area in which we live. Also, to the best of my knowledge, they (FIOS) don't offer a dual-tuner HD DVR.

I'm asking this in good faith, I'd appreciate a like-minded reply.

Thanks in advance.

He does have Fios but he spends a lot of time here. Maybe there is nothing on TV so he comes here to tell every one to switch.

Before he answers it's a dual tuner Motorola box. It has a pretty picture but thats about it. The guide is awful and slow. Once you get pass the Internet speed you find it not that great.

Pretty much.

They have more HD channels than Cavtel does, and that's because Cavtel doesn't have any.

When is that channel comparison that you promised by yesterday being posted?

With fios, I use a tivo hd dvr with cablecard, nothing beats it.

D* has looser negotiation tactics than E*. This allows for more programming, but higher prices.
