NFL 2008-09 Season

Things are off to a rousing start in Chicago.....

Special Team Stud, Devin Hester is holding out of camp in search for a new contract.

In other news, yesterdays starting QB was determined by a coin toss! Apparently Grossman won the toss over Orton.

Bears coach Lovie Smith said Tuesday that he hoped to have the starting quarterback determined by the third preseason game, but he wouldn’t tell anyone the exact date and time he had in mind to name the starter.

Sounds like the same thing the Browns went through last year with Charlie Frye and Derek Anderson. Unfortunately for the Browns, the wrong guy won the coin toss (Frye) and started horribly the first game of the season. After that week though was the start of the DA revolution and Charlie was shipped to Seattle....

THIS is a team 'The Sporting News' predicted would go 10-6 and make the PLAYOFFS?!

Oh, if only the Browns played the Bears this year- maybe, just maybe, we could see a team score 60 points in a game.

That would be like asking me, "Sabres, how would you rather throw up? Tomato juice or scrambled eggs? Let's flip a coin!"

I disagree with those predictions, especially with the AFC North's brutal schedule. 3 teams with 9 wins or more?! No way.

First off, no way in hell Cinci wins 10 with that defense. Cinci will go 7-9 instead, if they're lucky. Plus, Baltimore will be lucky to win 4 games this year.

I will go on the record to say that 9 wins will win this division this year. I envision the Browns and Steelers at 8 wins a piece going into the last game of the season in which they play each other for the 9th win and the AFC North Title.

I agree with your statement that they gave the division too many wins as a whole. However, I think things will be bunched up more than you do, with the Steelers coming out on top. My guys will come in third, I think.

Big Snack too Fat to Move!

Pro Bowler Hampton put on PUP list - NFL - SI.com

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Pro Bowl nose tackle Casey Hampton, aka "Big Snack" was placed on the physically unable to perform list Sunday after reporting to training camp overweight and failing to complete the Pittsburgh Steelers' annual run test.

Hampton, listed at 325 pounds but apparently much heavier, lagged 30 yards behind defensive end Brett Keisel during one of eight 100-yard sprints. Hampton completed only five.

"He's overweight and he's not conditioned enough to participate at this point," coach Mike Tomlin said.

Hampton won't be allowed to practice in this camp until he drops weight, and Tomlin suggested that will take more than a few days.

Anyone want to predict who will win the awards? (Offensive and defensive player of the year, MVP, coach of year, etc.)

I'll have to think a little about the rest, but Coach of the Year I pick Romeo Crennel.

1. Because he has a team on the rise
2. Because he's a class act and I like him :D

Wow. Good pick Bill! I hope your right! :up

The fact remains the Patriots haven't won a Super Bowl since both Romeo and Charlie Weis left. Romeo had as much to do with those three SB titles as anyone.

" Romeo, Romeo, where art thou Romeo." :D

True. The ironic thing though, is that being a former Defensive Coordinator/Guru at New England, we've never had a dominant defense during his tenure here in Cleveland. In fact just last year the complete opposite happened. Our offense flourished, while our defense stunk.

Hopefully, with the few key additions to the D-Line this year, Romeo and company will have more to work with on Defense this year.
