SRL Says Alternate Procedure Not Working

Cool, thats what that Jeff dude did but he used W5-216 guess it's the same thing. Yo Davange do you have a guide? if so man I feel bad for those who bricked...

Well just to let everyone know....I connected with service on my 920 as I finally got in and I now have the Family PaK. I guess I may be the first one not using the full procedure. My other receiver no go yet but the only different I've seen is the one that works had a NS in the authorization status while the other one still has the ZK. The working one now has a S. Maybe this is something maybe not.

1) Go to X4 216
2) Do an Auth reset Options 67780
3) Go to Websams. Use the option to Activate Service, then send a rehit

Mine is working on EMM provider 4160, and all satellite tiles are still intact! Woo Hoo!

The key is to use the X4 map since it needs to see that map number to send the new EMM trip after AR.

tvropro have you tested using W5? dude at satforums seemed to have used W5 and it worked fine, unless he mistyped and used x4?

W5 will not give you the proper channel map number "4131" needed for the EMM to properly update.

Sergei what do you mean? what channel did you go to? you justed subbed to this service like that and it worked?
YES...I was on 216 on X4, for what ever reason this 920 receiver works and I have all my other satellites. Like I already say this receiver had NS and I forgot at one time today when playing around it even when to US and then came back to the NS. Sorry I don't have an answer other that that. But I'm going to play around with the other 920 to see if I can see the same thing.

Cool.. I've got guide. And there's even a Satellite Receivers Limited logo at the top of the screen.

I still have all satellite tiles intact. Option 6/5 shows 4782 channels.
Option 67781 shows EMM provider 4160.

It's working as a 410 with the guide seen that logo on the 410. Alll other sats are in still so we have a winner :D

My 922 went offline Jan. 1st. After reading this I went to W5 with it and my previous subbed channels still work on the original 4D channel ID layout and last months authorization is still valid. I have X4 mapped but never used it other than seeing if it worked. I didn't leave it there very long as I'm using a 410.

tvropro guy at satfourms confirmed this worked flawless using W5-216, mite be good for those that loaded the bad X4 maps.

Same here, the guide came by itself a bit later. Even without the guide being downloaded though, the current program on each channel works even without a subscription. As it was late, I did not bother posting again and went to sleep. Noticed that there's a few channels in the guide that are on satellites other than X4.

This has worked out better than I had hoped. Full set of satellite tiles AND guide information. I was completely ready to give up an EPG if necessary to maintain my 922 as a dish mover. I get the best of both worlds.

I feel bad for anybody who bricked their receiver.

Is W5 216 up? I can't get a signal. Other W5 transponders working fine. If I can't get 216 is there any other way to get the new stream?

I suppose we will be OK with our existing authorization for at least a week or two.....hope it sorted out before the keys change.

'AI, W5, and X4 -- issues related to changing EMM providers and receiving hits'

Well this is just my speculation based on scant available data.

Possibly receivers like mine [Early 10yo, GI branded 922] that have an AI tile and a X4 tile may be at the root of the issue.

Mine has AI available when you hit the 'Sat' button

[list order from left to right is W5, X4, AI] on the remote control. But it is NOT in the list of available sats via Options 6,4,4. So it cannot be removed. And my X4 is ch. numbered almost the same as W5. W5 stops at 806, and my X4 stops at 856, and AI [when selected from 'Sat' button on 922 RC, and using ch. up button to increase ch. # before hitting enter] appears to go to 903, but as soon as you hit enter, it reverts to the W5 or X4 channel that you had been previously watching before you hit the 'Sat' button. Meaning you never get AI on the provided data when you are on a channel and touch the 'arrow' [any] key, or 'Exit' key, or 'Info' key.

All very strange and it is a reasonable assumption that these relate to the ability to successfully change over and receive a hit from EMM 4160.

If my receiver wasn't working correctly and well, I would consider changing to X4-216 and unplugging it for 30 seconds and then replugging to see if it uploads Comcast maps and corrects it's map issues.

My 922 has no hits and has not been on any DC2 sat since 12-29-2010 9:58 CST. It has no hits banked because I had a power failure a week ago and my professional APC1400 UPS had failed sometime and I didn't realize it until the power failure. This 922 previously had been subbed to almost all available channels as of early December, 2010.

Questions for 'pwrsurge'.....

1. What was your W5/X4/AI map situation before you performed the authorization reset on the 2 boxes?

2. Was there any old 'Hits' on Options 6,5 before you began?

For anyone that tries the authorization reset you need to collect as much data as possible before doing anything. Such as I have mentioned above. All this may help the Comcast engineers formulate a fix or workaround.

Not sure about AI but I had the old KU band X4 tile on at first. In order for the receive to get the new X4 map, I first had to unselect it in program satellites first and then perform the 4 step process as documented. I also had to unplug the unit for 30 seconds as well in order for the X4 map update to "take". I then readded X4 and programmed it at the same location as W5 and the maps were working properly on X4 (i.e. DMX channels from 900 - 941 instead of in the 800's.). This took a while to figure out as for the longest time, I had the DMX channels in the 800's which is NOT correct.

Have a question...I've tried twice doing rehits and both times my trip counter has increased in count is this misleading or is this receiver able to receive programming as the phones lines at SRL are plain busy and like to know before getting to them.

If some of you are having problems getting through to SRL because of busy lines, you may order service from us instead as we are an authorized SRL dealer. Services can be ordered online at DrSat.ca :: Satellite dish installation in Southern Ontario Please note that we don't have the a la carte and the Pik10Pak services added on our website yet but it will be done by the end of today.

Prices are in Canadian funds but with the dollar currently at par, it should not make any difference. Once services are paid using Paypal or Credit card, send an email to info@drsat.ca with your Unit ID number and we will authorize your services within the hour. Make sure that you leave your receiver on X4-216 as stated in this thread.

I just got through to Skyvision (on the 1st try) and they confirmed that the the ALTERNATE PROCEDURE is indeed having problems. Since I do not have any subscripitions he advised me to wait until they iron out the bugs. He also told me that since I followed the procedure and have X4 stored I can get authorization anytime I want. So, I am ready to go, just need to decide when.

Thanks TVROPRO for all you have done. You have made things a lot eaiser for those of us who are technically challanged.
