DISH / Blockbuster Announcement Discussion Thread!

not according to the rep I just chatted with; if you have platinum free, you will get the BB option for FREE as well.
I asked that exact question, and was told that..
their servers are getting hammered, so you will have to log in to dish online, click the BB icon on top, register with your online info, and it will give you bb then..
its just going to take them a few hours to bring the server back up, so have some patience!

raymond and matt both told me i would have to let my free platinum go to get it

Depends on who you talk to. This is what a rep told me in the other forum.
Dish/Blockbuster announcement coming Friday - Page 7 - DBSTalk.Com

kalone,

The 30 Year Anniversary free Platinum does not qualify for the Movie Pass. With the paid Platinum Package ($10 per month), subscribers are automatically transitioned to the Movie Pass at no additional cost. Thanks.

Mostly true. Once your receiver is targeted you can force an update by putting both tuners in standby. But until your receiver is targeted dan is right, you can't force an update.
I may have missed it if he indicated what receiver he has -- he did say he's got L688 so I'm sure he's got the 722k -- but a s/w update, at least higher than L688, is not necessary !

That's interesting as I figured the "box" was mainly just passing it through. I have a $130 Samsung BD player and similar 6mb DSL. As long as other devices in the house weren't streaming, I could get 'max' HD quality, according to the little indicator bar. As I mentioned, I presumed "it's streaming" so lesser PQ is just a trade-off and I really had no complaint in that aspect. If it looked good and didn't buffer, I was happy !

I've used it on the PS3 and Roku, and neither looked as good as the Oppo. The Oppo actually uses the Marvell chip on streaming, so I guess that does make some of the performance box dependent.

Yep got BB showing up instead of platinum. As the previous post mentioned they should really look at the GUI. I almost feel like they just switched the names and everything else from that point is same ol same ol.
As far as the user-interface, it is ALL that they did. I did try a couple movies and (earlier) they started streaming almost right away (less than 2 minutes, but probably more like 30-60 sec). Not bad !

Back to the user-interface though -- it is really bad.

Dumb question, how do you search, by name, for a title ?

Anyone knows when the "coming soon" for 922 is?

I mean why not now like everyone else, we pay more for the DVR, I need to pay for the receiver and cannot have the Movie Pass now like everyone else...

We have the ViP612. Earlier in this thread it was mentioned the 612 would get MoviePass November-ish.

Chat agent is telling me "It support only to 722 or 722k receivers."

Any insight from the gurus here? I trust you more than Support. :)
Scott stated here that the 612 (and 922) won't support it until mid-November. Therefore, it generally is only working on the 722 and 722k (not sure about 622), so sorry, the agent is right (enough).

OK, the 3 out change has gone thru on my online programming, but the Movie Pass Website does not reflect it yet:

HBO, Max, Sho
$33.00

Movie Pass - 3 Discs
$20.00

America's Top 200
$59.99

DVR Service
$6.00

HD 200 Free
$0.00

Protect Plan - 6 Mo ($6/Mo)
$0.00

Monthly Charges
$118.99

Damn you are impatient !! You may have responded with an update later, but if not, how late did you stay up waiting, checking, rebooting, etc ??

Damn you are an angry person Hall. Really I pulled the plug and waited 5 minutes for the reboot to complete and I still didn't have the Blockbuster pass. Today after about three reboots caused by trying to download an online free movie, I finally got the Blockbuster pass to show instead of Platinum . It seems that when you try to download the movie it can cause reboot on the receiver.
