No surprise considering the way the media has hyped him up as the second coming of tebow for the last 6 weeks.
I only watched a few games of him, and I certainly have to say he may very well be better than tebow. As a Gator fan I know that is sacrilegious, but Tebow had a stacked team during his success. I mean a handful of first rounders and another 4 or 5 players on top of those are starters in the NFL. Tebow had quite possible the best Oline tandem ever in NCAA (The Pouncey Twins) 2 Great WRS who are starters in the NFL, a Great tight End is is a starter on a super bowl team, and a defense with starters in the nfl including one on a super bowl team. So tebow had an amazing supporting class to help him do what he did. Not to take anything away from what Tebow did, but he certainly had a lot of help.
Johnny Football is doing all this on a team much like Cam Newton did. A team in which you will be lucky to have a handful of players drafted and probably only 1 in the first round (manziel himself)
I see him as a mix if tebow and Newton. Otherwise I agree , insider has a good point.

Probably a bad example. No doubt he does have amazing talent, just the vote was no surprise.
The media has been pumping Johnny Football mania down everyone's throats for weeks. I saw this vote as finalized a couple of weeks ago. It will be interesting to see if he keeps up the impressive play and wins it again

I think he may have won it due to lack of others out there.
I am surprised they decided to give it to a Freshman, till now that was a No No.

What a heartbreaking end to the Army-Navy game. I really didn't care who won but I felt so sorry for the QB of Army. One thing the game reminded me of is how sports can still be the greatest teacher of life and the Army-Navy game is such a great reminder of what sports ultimately can be about. Teamwork, passion, and that it has its place but in reality it is just a game.
I don't think it's quite as bad, but ya I agree ....
Almost would rather Not win it, as most that do, don't go on to do much at the next level .... you would think if you were the BEST college player, you would do well at the next level.
There's no crying in Army-Navy football. Patton would have slapped that kid silly...not for fumbling, but for blubbering afterwards. The only reason you felt sorry for the Army quarterback was because he was crying his eyes out. I certainly wouldn't want this kid on the battlefield with me if he can't maintain military discipline during a football game. Embarrassing end to the game is a more accurate statement. There is a time and place for shedding tears...this was not one of them IMO.
Watching him first hand against Bama, and in a few other games, the kid is the real deal (at the college level anyway).
Seriously? He didn't show emotion on the field or even during the game but it was afterwards. To just dismiss someone who has spent four years at a military academy as "unfit" to be on a battlefield or not maintaining "military discipline" because of the emotion they displayed after the game is ridiculous, absurd, and an insult. He is a 22 year old kid who got caught up in the emotion of a sporting event, like many of us do or have, and my guess is he felt personally responsible for the fumble. The reason I felt for the kid is because I have played sports and I am a sports fan. Whether he shed tears or not doesn't matter to me, I felt for the kid, like I do a lot of kids who give everything they have to a game they love and come up short for one reason or another. Also, having served in the military as a cop, I know that people do their job because they train their body's and minds to react without thinking. It is afterwards when the emotions come out. No difference for this kid. To suggest other wise is just dumb. Also, when Patton slapped that kid it was because Patton became emotional. He didn't control it and look where that got him compared to where he could have gone if he had controlled his emotions.
OU is looking forward to beating A&M in the Cotton Bowl, and continuing the Heismann winner jinx.
