2013 AL Central

It's rare but I'll be skipping this one. Friends are coming over to watch the Notre Dame/Michigan game so that's what I'll be watching. I'm sad the rivalry is ending. As a Notre Dame fan living in Michigan it has always been my favorite game of the year. The back and forth with all my friends who went to Michigan is great.

As nice as the Tigers are doing, I have to admit my focus will be on football as well. Will continue to monitor them, but focus will be football :)

Starting to wonder about this team's heart on the road again.

You have never given them a chance from the start ... regardless.

If you have followed them, you'd know they are not that good on the road.

That said, MOST teams are not that good on the road, there are exceptions.

Then again, after looking at the standings, the Tigers are not as bad as I thought on the road .. I thought they were hovering around .500, actually they have 38 road wins this year so far.

The most road wins this year for anyone is 41.

If I followed them? Really? I have not missed a game in over 10 years, whether it be recorded or watched live. How about you? Why is it you can say what you want to say about them, but nobody else can be critical of them? I know how they are on the road, but they were turning that around. Now they are again showing no heart. I know this team plenty, as if you are the know all about all things Tigers. There are two reasons I did not give them a shot to win it all, you know what they are. I'm just not scared to say it. You can disagree all you want (AND I KNOW YOU WILL) but don't tell me I don't follow them. I've been double playing the game today with the Lions. Next time I'll Pm you for permission to speak on the Tiger's heart ok? NOT!!!!!

The way I see it...we blow an awful lot of games each year due to a lack of intensity?...motivation?...boredom? I'm not sure, but we don't seem to play our best ball until the playoffs or when we're under the gun. Anyway, I see a 9th inning comeback on the today's menu.

I've been following the Tigers since 1970.

You can be critical all you want ...
What annoys me is the fact that the ONLY time you post is to be critical of them.

As far as playing on the road, it turns out that they are as good as the TOP team in the league playing on the road within a few games.

Just because they lose a game, they have no heart ?

How about Boredom, I think it's more that than anything else ... did you notice that when the Tigers were challenged a month or so ago, they started playing very well.

Now the bullpen is an entirely different situation, they stink ... Benquit, Rondon and Smiley are the only ones I would count on.

Nope, I'm never critical of them ....

I believe it was just a week or so ago that I came out and said that Al Al and Coke should be released...

Thats fine , come in here and bitch all you want, I'm sure you will find something wrong if they win it all as well.

You're never critical? Don't make me go back in this thread. Of course I'm only critical when they play down to their competition. Bored? Seriously? That's ok? Come on man? Done with your silly stuff. You don't like it block me.

You missed my point.

I Am critcal of them, just not as much as you.

Chip and I post all year long, good or bad, np.

I hate the fact that Leyland doesnt play a pretty much set line up, every night he has to "Rest" someone.

I bet he hasnt played thier top line up more than 20 times all year.
Thats Stupid.

I think the team has played Down to the competition for about 25 years now, of corse thats only when they were good enough to play to the competition.

I think he even rested players in the 1st week of the season.

Well, it's on to Chicago to play a series against the White Sox starting tonight. I sure hope the Tigers rebound against the Sox after the two less-than-stellar road series again Boston and KC.

Two things that are starting to worry me:
  1. Miguel Cabrera's Health - his ongoing issues are a real pain in the groin (pun intended)
  2. Justin Verlander's Human Performances - his mental game and delivery just aren't in sync

Anyone care to add to the list?

Today's AL CENTRAL Standings

Detroit 82 61 .573
Cleveland 76 66 .535 5.5
Kansas City 75 68 .524 7
Minnesota 61 80 .433 20
Chicago Sox 57 85 .401 24.5

Cleveland has quietly (with much thanks to the Tigers) managed to slip back into the race.

Yes tribe still hanging around, another big week upcoming on the schedule

They actually could have made up more ground than they did with the Tigers recent losses. Both teams are actually 5-5 in their last 10 games meaning they haven't made up any ground at all in the last 10 games. I know it's not over till it's over but I really think Cleveland is running out of time. They have 19 games left to make up the rest of the difference. That is doable for sure but Cleveland hasn't felt like an actual threat to me in months. ESPN has the Tigers playoff chances at 99.1%. Of course that percentage includes their chances of winning a wild card spot if they lose the division but it's still looking pretty good for us.
