Apple Live Event: iPhone 6, Apple Watch

Just got notification from Verizon that my phone has shipped and will be delivered Friday. I expected it to be shipped Friday. Nice surprise.

Nice! If you have the tracking number, see where the phone is at right now.
I remember two years back I was able to track my iPhone 5 all the way from China.
Friday is going to be a busy day for FedEx and UPS!

Just checked, it only says a shipping label has been created, so it must not actually have gone anywhere yet. Interesting it says it is being shipped next day air, but I opted for the free 2 day shipping from Verizon. I guess they upgraded it so people would receive them on Friday.

Most of the free iPhone shipments are targeted to be delivered this Friday. The entire shipping industry will be working predominantly for Apple this week! Whether the tracking info is being updated or not, the orders are already on the move. Warehouses are probably already filling up in preparation for the Friday's release.

Here is the case. It's huge!

I will take a pic later with an iPhone 5s and the case together.

I still have not given up on the regular watches. I guess I could convert to my phone for telling time, but it is usually in my pocket and looking at my wrist is easier...

I haven't worn a watch since the early 2000s. My problem was my wrist seemed to be at the exact same height as the majority of door knobs and it seemed that I would bang into one (or the striker plate) with my watch. I have a beautiful Seiko analog watch in a dark grey with gold highlights and a small gold-tone LCD for the date/stopwatch information. It was my favorite until the battery died and I thought I could fix it. Turns out one of the screws I thought held the battery in place was actually the trimmer for the quartz crystal. When the battery did get replaced, the watch ran fast by 20 seconds a day! :(

I just learned to pull my phone out of my pocket at that point, and by the time I got an iPhone, this behavior was my new normal.

So, having thought about it, I pulled the Seiko out of the drawer and took a look at it. I need an Energizer 370 battery which shouldn't be too much. I'll see if I can figure out how to trim it back to keep good enough time to use it again.

I stopped wearing a wrist watch when sick. Never got back in the habit. Just don't need to know the time that often.

My Citizen watch adjusts its time via radio every day. It is also solar powered, so it does not have batteries... Waterproof to 300 meters, has a sapphire face, so it stands up to abuse. It just does not connect to my smartphone and give me continuous health readings....

I love a nice watch. Only piece of "jewelry" other than my wedding ring that I wear. I have a very nice Tag Heuer that I wear almost every day.
