TNAP2 for Edision OS Mio+ 4K model ONLY has been released on the LegitFTA forum. A big THANK YOU to El Bandidio for his countless hours of work and expertise in preparing this new release!


TNAP 2 is a multiboot image and is installed via the "downloded_images" folder placed on the top level of a USB drive. In the TNAP image, follow the flash steps to install TNAP 2 in an open multiboot slot. It is recommended that you backup your STB regularly and especially before installing any image.

TNAP 2 is a non-updating image and is intended to provide North American hobbyists with a reliable satellite experience, excelling in Blind Scan and service logging. The start-up wizard simplifies installs in North American with a regional satellites list, typical LNB LO types and defaults the system to the 60hz video refresh standard.

The attached image is designed for the Edision OS MIO 4K+ receiver. TNAP-2 is based on Sat DreamGr, and is designed for use in North America. Some features that are needed for Europe and other parts of the world have been deleted or eliminated. TNAP-2 is designed for easy use and installation. A tuner driver that performs well in blindscan and for channels that are on transponders that are around 4 MHZ apart is also used. It should be noted that this tuner driver Does Not have T2MI capability, and will not work on T2MI transponders.

As with any file posted at this site, Install and use TNAP-2 at your own risk. This enigma2 image has been tested, retested, then tested some more. It should perform well for what it was designed to do on your MIO+ receiver.

Known Issues:
(1) Wireless networks will not have their signal displayed properly. For encrypted or password protected wireless networks, use the remote to enter the password. Do not use the virtual keyboard. Wireless keyboards should work OK if they are reconized by the receiver.

(2) Hauppauge 850 and 950 ATSC tuners Do Not Work! Hauppauge 955 Is Supported for ATSC in this image.

This image may be updated or amended in the near future if the Known Issues are fixed, or if something else useful is added. EB

As a side notes, I have been working with the AVL team to include the Haupaugge 850 and 950 ATSC tuners and reliable T2MI support in a future release.

Also, I see no advantage for current OS Mio+ TNAP users to install TNAP 2, unless you download new Plugins or are required to update a current Plugins.

For someone looking to get into Enigma 2 with a new receiver this is definitely the way to go. I'm pretty comfortable with E2 and usually run OpenVix now but I wish the TNAP was available when I first started out and tried to figure out how to work with E2. By eliminating a lot of the options that most of us in North America don't need or want and by limiting the number and types of plugins that are available along with already having the North American satellite list set up this image is a lot easier for a noob to use. Once your comfortable with it then you can expand and try other images. They did a really nice job with it and the receiver is about the best one that is available for consumer level usage.
 
If TNAP 2 doesn't support the 950 then I'll have to wait for an update that does.

However, you WILL lose the front display, and the ATSC usb tuners won't work (except for the Hauppauge 955, which I have and which DOES work). You'll also lose access to any T2MI sat broadcasts. Admittedly, there aren't many of those on this side of the pond so far.

I do NOT see any reason for anybody running just the regular OS MIO 4k to bother trying this file at this time, though it will work except for what I mention above. IMO, there's just no advantage over the original TNAP version we already have for that receiver. Best to wait for EB to get around to upgrading a new version just for that one.
 
I will say a single thing in this post, just in case you didn't catch it in the first post...

NO REASON TO INSTALL TNAP 2 ON AN OS MIO 4K SINGLE TUNER THAT IS CURRENTLY RUNNING TNAP 1.

I AM KEEPING MY DAILY USE OS MIO 4K RUNNING TNAP1. WHY? BECAUSE I HAVE A 950Q ATSC TUNER. :)

DON'T RUSH OUT TO LOAD THE LATEST AND GREATEST TNAP2 IMAGES IF THE CURRENT SOLUTION MEETS YOUR CURRENT NEED...

A new OS Mio 4K TNAP 2 image will be released when ready.

Have you been able to convert any T2MI streams
 
Made some modifications to this thread. Use this ONLY on the new PLUS model.
 
I had the Beta TNAP on my Mio+ and just finished upgrading to the released TNAP 2.

It was quite easy to flash the new image (I just overwrote slot 1).

Right now I only have a fixed KU dish pointed at 99W for the news feeds. It took 3 minutes to blind scan last night with the beta TNAP and only 1 min. 40 secs. with TNAP 2. :)

I have not tried any plugins yet, but basic scanning and viewing work well so far. Thanks El Bandido!
 
Okay. So El looks like he's on top of it. Beat heads with AVL and got drivers that work better than the previous ones.
A couple of things. What's to keep a guy from trying the + drivers in a non plus receiver? Same sat tuners from the bunch of test files also sent to me to try out.
Also. What does a person look for in terms of performance and glitches from previous drivers when testing and comparing?
El would be good at tearing that one down. Details are a good thing.
A 'fast' scan doesn't particularly mean too much if tp's and channels are missed during it.
And T2MI. On c band? Are they shown on sat charts and which one(s) do? I'm curious.

Nice receiver (my Mio 4K). But what convincing does it take for folks like Edision so we don't have to buy an external usb tuner for rabbit ears in the future? Lol! An actual working ATSC tuner QAM256 that snags OTA AND itc cable channels. Yeah. I have 70+ itc cables here as a perk for my Internet service. MR. Bravia and Silicondust grab them just fine.
I have an HDHomerun tuner. She's a dandy one too. There's even Linux drivers for it. But none that I know of compiled for Enigma2 boxes. One tuner that streams over LAN on the entire plantation except to a sat box with LAN and wifi. Hmmm...
How cool would that be?

As pointed out in previous posts, the TNAP 2 OS Mio+ 4K image operating on an OS Mio 4K will have no front panel display. Load away if you want to try.

In testing changes, we go function by function, comparing performance and results. I keep a spreadsheet to track changes. It is a very manual and time consuming process that is repeated with each change.

Haven't seen North American T2MI mux annotations on any Satellite services listing. Mostly these transponders are discussed between hobbyists on different forums.

Less accurate scans? Are you trolling or making an actual observation? I assume no testing behind this.... Benchmark some blind scans and sevice scans for yourself. The TNAP 1 or 2 both log more transponders and services than any other E2 image and is faster.

Internal support for ATSC tuners? With the few FTA hobbyists buying STBs in North America, we are fortunate to even have support for external tuners. The Hauppauge USB tuners are as accurate and sensitive as any TV tuner I have tested and more sensitive than my Silicon Dust.

Why don't you compile a Silicon Dust Plugin for E2? Another option might be to use the Kodi Plugin, but I have never tried. Works well on my Windows HTPC Kodi.

Arlo, El Bandido is a great guy, and really knows his stuff. He has NO problem sharing, and spending time helping others including you if you ask. IF you really want things such as this, E2 is open source, and you can check the various E2 image forums, AND ask El Bandido to help you figure out how to do the things you want. He'll likely help as much as he's able. He's already years ahead of us on E2, but he learned the way all of us learn, by doing it...

Just register over at Legitfta if you haven't already, and post a thread. But be willing to try to do the work yourself, and learn as you get it done. You have 4 slots in the Mio, so you can play all you'd like while leaving the main image you use everyday alone, and safe from changes.

there are several T2MI transponders on SES6 @40.5W. I think Lyngsat lists about 8-10 of them (look for T2-MI on the column where it says if it's DVB-S or DVBS2)

There are also some on 8W C-band according to Lyngsat but that satellite is too low on the horizon for my C-Band dish

I'm not aware of any other satellites that we can receive here that have any T2-MI

I receive the 40.5W T2MI channels fine on the OSmio4K. I think my Amiko does not lock at all on those transponders
 
I have not played around with Enigma2 for >5 years but now that I'm trapped home for who knows how long I'm thinking about getting a new 4k box and OS mio 4K is at top of the list. As it sounds like there are multiple E2 images which can be installed, other than satellite database for North America what exactly are the differences in the images or what makes TNAP preferred ? I'm guessing blindscan is still handled by a plug-in so just curious on the differences.
 
TNAP v,3 is preloaded on the Edision STBs that are shipped from Titanium Satellite. The Enigma2 image and skin choice is all about user preference. Images may be icon or text based and offer a different user experience.

I use TNAP because in my opinion, it offers the best performance for the services available in North America. The blind scan speed, accuracy and service logging is optimized for some unique signals such as the 101w multiple services sharing identical parameters. It is great to have an image with default settings for standard type Ku LNBFs, 60hz refresh and development and support by a talented US based hobbyist who scans the same sats that we do.
 
Thanks Titanium. This might be a naive question but is blindscan performance a function of the E2 image, blindscan plug-in or both? Does TNAP use a different blindscan plug-in than other E2 builds? On a different topic, I understand none of the E2 boxes can decode 4:2:2 but there was some talk of being able to stream it to another device to view? Is that possible and does TNAP include option to act as server or what software would need to be installed on the Mio 4k and what software would be used on the client (VLC?)
 
The TNAP V.3 image uses custom tuner drivers not used in other images. I have been working with the tuner manufacturer on additional developments that will eventually released.

The Edision Mios have native streaming and the WebIF interface is available on web browsers. No streaming plugins are necessary. You could use VLC or other media players for audio or video services. 4:2:2 via streaming for real-time or dvr.

Several apps are available for Android devices. I use DreamDroid. Also provides signal meter.

May I ask if you have been successful streaming CBS 4:2:2 feeds to an Android TV box with DreamDroid or anthing else?
