Possible LNBF Problem

I am running dual output LNBF's on all my C-Band dishes. When I installed the last dish, which is pointed at Galaxy 19, I began to have a problem. With this LNBF hooked to my 8 way diseqc switch, I started getting interference on my main receiver in the living room. It would lose signal but come right back on. On the worst days, the signal loss would cause both receivers to become unwatchable.

I checked the electrical circuits, all were fine, balanced the grounds to all my dished and added additional grounds just to be sure. The other day, I decided to reroute some cables in the box outside. When I started reconnecting the different dishes to the switch I found that the interference was caused by one particular dish, the one hooked to Galaxy 19.

The other 7 dishes were already hooked up and as soon as I added Galaxy 19, the interference started again. I've been messing with this for a while, but never had time to really go through the process of elimination. I was just wondering if anyone else has ran into this problem with multiple dish systems. I haven't changed out the troublesome LNBF yet. I need to get a couple extras from Titanium anyway.

I would be having my AI TurboS2 hooked up and looking at both ends of the setup. Is the suspect LNBF drawing too much current? One of the things I would want to know. That kind of thing almost always ends up being a poor connection somewhere.

I had a dual LNBF where one port would quit or be intermittant when the other port was used. Switched out the unit with another and problem went away. Funny, that dish was pointed at 97w too... Likely not the same problem, but if you have another spare LNBF might be something to try.

I haven't actually metered it. However, it shouldn't be due to not using the 22khz tone setting. The receiver should be only powering one LNBF at a time. At the current time, I am using a 5 amp filtered power supply that I had as a spare for one of my surveillance DVR's.

I've checked for a possible short in the coax for this dish. Not sure what going on, but I am about to order a couple spare LNBF's from Titanium and switch it out. Too much rain lately to mess with it. Everything's working OK right now with Gal. 19 unhooked from the 2nd receiver.

Going to try that as soon as the rain lets up. Been raining like every other day most of the winter. Supposed to have a break in the weather next week, but that subject to change from day to day. Since we're kind of stuck at home with the Coronavirus going around, I'm going to get a jump on planting the garden. Thinking of starting some plants a little early. Hope everyone's avoiding the virus. Cheers.

Another thing to consider. Some switches may not provide adequate port isolation to prevent strong signals from leaking into other ports. You might try moving 97w to a different port or swapping to a different switch.

is this a passive or powered switch? If powered, does the port remain powered when not selected or only powered when selected.

Moved it to a different port, same problem. The switch is only powered on the satellite selected. Others not powered. Also installed new switch out of the box, didn't change anything. When I only hook G19 to one of my two switches, problem goes away.
