Star Trek: Picard

Discovery isn't first up? Odd...
Discovery didn't even start filming until June.

I would not be surprised if it comes after SNW, which was filmed last year. I also think the long delay for Discovery might be signs it is the end of its run. Just a guess, but I don't think 18 month gaps ever help a show. The last season of Discovery launched in late October 2021 (maybe early November).

Agreed, a long delay between seasons doesn't help a show - people lose interest. I would prefer SNW season 2 sooner anyway. :)

True, but I've seen all of TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager and Enterprise, multiple times - mainly because I own all the sets on disc and grew up watching all of them...
Then theres Picard, Discovery, Strange New Worlds, Lower Decks, Prodigy ....

I don't watch most of them, but they are out there if you like the other timelines.

8 days till Picard Season 3 :)
I am going to wait till the end, watched Season 2 weekly and I keep thinking I would of liked it better if watched as a long movie.

Or Season 2 just sucked and binging would not of mattered.

The only explanation for Picard that one needs is this. Shatner is coming to my town. Which is not a big city, maybe 500K people within an hour each way. 3000 seat venue. $45 each, more for the floor. Showing "The Wrath of Khan", which is a FORTY ONE year old movie that I'm sure anyone interested in this has seen many dozens of times and then Shatner , who is NINETY ONE years old will give what they are billing as a "short talk".

And it will be a sell out.

Picard is just fan service. They make no attempt to produce something that furthers the Star Trek narrative. Just a bunch of actors, none of which have done anything since the show ended thirty years ago, dressing up and mucking about in a video version of a Trekie convention.

Johnathan Frakes may not be in front of the camera often, but he has been very busy behind the scenes, same with LeVar Burton. Patrick Steward has been in many movies and plays. Brent Spiner, Micheal Dorn, Marina Sirtis have all been involved in hundreds of movies, TV shows, video games, etc.

So it isn’t like these actors all sat back and rested on their laurels after “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and were never heard from again.

The only one that did not do much is Gates Mcfadden(Doctor), but she said in interviews that she did that on purpose, wanted to mostly retire, just do the conventions ( and makes 5 figures per), also her husband is rich also.

She is 73, most people retire in their 60’s.

While the camaraderie between Picard and Riker was great, I was really disappointed in the first episode. Just not very well written and constructed...very convoluted, especially regarding Raffi.
