The YouTube TV Thread

I had my first recurring buffering issue within a relatively short period of time during the MNF game last night. I rebooted everything in my setup twice and am wired to 100 Mbs (speedtests were normal). It happened 4-5 times (1-2 seconds of buffering) within an 60 to 90 minute time frame, which I would've considered normal when I had PS Vue, but on YTTV I was quite surprised. I posted this issue in the YTTV Facebook group and only a couple of others were having similar trouble.

I was having buffering issues for a while. Changed out a 8 year old wireless router and all is good. One of my Roku’s is wired and I get 45 to 60 mps from 100 mps from Charter.
Wireless setup I’ll get 25 to 45 mps.

My router is <2 years old, but it's probably worth checking for firmware updates. I've been having an issue with Amazon Prime this week as well, though Netflix and HBO Now are fine. I also haven't been having any other problems with YouTube TV except for the period of time during the first half of the Seahawks-Bears game.

That’s what I did. Checked with Charter and they said I was missing firmware update. They updated but still had issues. The router I had was a single band not dual band. Once I got the dual band and put all streaming on 5G, my issues were gone.

The 2.4 band is pretty much useless for wifi anymore. I only run on 5G.

More channels converted to 60fps.
Only BBC America, TCM, WE tv and CNBC are 30fps on Roku. I’m not sure about premium channels.

Same for LG app except WE tv is 60fps.

I love YouTube but I would NOT pay their YouTube TV. I enjoy the regular videos of different things on it. But this is my opinion
I expect that the days of free and unfettered access to YouTube are limited. They're already offering a pay program to remove the ads and I can see that becoming the baseline.

Dismissing a product because it isn't free isn't something a thinking person should do.

Looks like they are all in the process of getting updated ...

I'm also noticing more live channels in 1080p than I had been aware of. Before I was only finding on demand stuff in 1080p. Hopefully 5.1 is around the corner.

I think all channels that can be broadcast in 1080 bow are, and at 60fps. Funny how when it first launched ppl were wondering and complaining about limited support on devices, channel offerings, and fps. Even with a $5 increase, it has gotten a foothold in the market. It may not be the largest by any means, but every service has to start from the ground up. Look at DTVN. They may have started with a boatload of channels and packages, but many had buffering and national outages at times and no Roku support for awhile. Still only watchable using Chrome on a laptop or PC. It takes time...

Sent from my LG-M322 using the SatelliteGuys app!

YouTube TV had me with the addition of the Time Warner channels. I did a trial the day the Roku app was announced, but I probably wouldn't have stayed with it after the first month had it not been for the announcement a week later about the Time Warner channels and the grandfathered pricing of $35 a month. Everything else since then has been icing on the cake.

I pay $40. for YTTV and $9. for Starz through YTTV.I think it is worth it and it must be because all these critics say YTTV is losing money for what they charge For their service.

It is absolutely worth it. The only question is how long will Google absorb the cost before they make the pricing realistic. Everybody is trying to force everyone else out and whether or not that happens, the prices will ultimately have to come up.

In the mean time, you can cut a fat hog if you find the right provider.
