    10 foot dish mounting post

Mesh dishes have no practical wind load advantage over a solid dish of the same dimension. Mesh dishes should always be calculated exactly the same as a solid dish.

Baird Mounts - anyone ever hear of them?

I've used Baird for years and have always been delighted with their quality of workmanship, attention to detail, and the great care taken in preparing their items for shipment. Baird even custom manufactured me a special part when my client encountered a difficult installation. I'm a very...

What is the best motor for a 1.2m offset

I use the SG-2100 on my 1.2m Ku SatelliteAV dish with good results. I'd get the one with the Moteck motor. Since the SG-2100 is a licensed product, they are not all created equally. It's also important to get the larger tube upgrade so backlash is minimized. These tubes are available on eBay.

    6 foot dish install

Two inches might be a significant amount of area on the outside of a dish, but hey, we've got less windloading! ;)

C on a KU motorized dish

Excellent advise. :) Not to take anything away from people having some fun experimenting, but.. for C-Band, I have discovered anything less than 1.2m is a waste of time. A six footer (1.8m) is the minimal size for decent gain and acceptable adjacent satellite rejection.

    Invacom QPH-031 replacement lens

Thanks for the source info. Kapton also makes a wonderful high voltage insulator and bypass capacitor when sandwiched between two aluminum plates. :up

    MiniBUD tuning Technique

So the E-Layer is responsible (55-95 miles up). I thought the attenuation was primarily in the troposphere (about 12 miles up). Nice tip.

Side lobe interference with close dishes?

I've never experience any significant coupling between dishes. Sometimes LNBF's can pick up TI, such as 2.4 GHz wireless telephones. I've experienced signal degradation from reflections from nearby objects, such as walls and vegetation. Your photos show an above ground installation which is...

    SES-1 Ku 103W

AMC-1 was replaced last week by replacement satellite SES-1. Has anybody noticed if the 26 degree skew offset is still present? I noticed a couple of fixed receive only systems are showing slightly lower Eb/No.

kmax 31 ( cw) sacramento in hd?

No need to watch local HD on a pizza pan when a small OTA antenna will give you much better quality. :)

    Radio Shack prices....OUCH!

That's very commendable for salespeople these days. Yeah, it's pretty amazing the number of distant OTA HD channels that can be received, but most are greatly affected by atmospheric conditions, at least in this neck of the woods.

    2010 Dayton Hamvention?

It's great seeing so many ham posts! I've always wanted to go to Dayton because it's the largest ham convention in the world. Kind of like the NAB show (National Association of Broadcasters) for hams. For you West Coast Hams who can't attend Dayton, why not attend the second best ham...

Looking for ideas regarding programming for a local LPFM (low power FM)

If you have an LPFM radio station you're probably best to be 100% original. Why not extend your coverage with internet radio? I'd step up to the plate with great programming of your own making.

    Radio Shack prices....OUCH!

RadioShack was a great backup place when you were in a pinch for electronic parts. They recently discontinued so many items, that I don't see how they get enough traffic in their stores to survive. Oh BTW, their wire and cable has always been among the worst quality available.

can 2 receivers be used to drive a motor?

That's the million dollar question and an excellent question indeed. There are several solutions posted on this site if you do a comprehensive search. I have experimented a lot with this and have found there is no "free lunch" here.
