Suprised to see Dish now costs just as much as Comcast

Great point! After being with Comcast for almost 2 years it's been like heaven with this 722 DVR! Can't believe how well it just works! The Comcast DVR's (at least the motorola's) were very Buggy, and just weren't well thought out in terms of functionality. The equipment alone is reason enough...

Suprised to see Dish now costs just as much as Comcast

That's exactly what I was pointing out, if your local Comcast has a ton of HD, (as mine has) BEWARE....the compression is horrible, makes some Channels difficult to watch.

Suprised to see Dish now costs just as much as Comcast

Lol! Hi Scott, surprised you still remember me after all these years. Those VOOM discussion days were fun! :D

Suprised to see Dish now costs just as much as Comcast

Having just switched from Comcast to Dish, I have gotten a better deal, however all in all prices are pretty comparable across the board with *all* providers, my reasoning for switching was mainly do to the horrible compression on HD channels comcast is allowing. I had Comcast still in place the...

New to the 722k, and need help...

Just wanted to know if it was possible to play all the episodes back to back within a specific group folder, without having to start them manually one right after another? Thank you.

    What HD channels are coming?

VOOM... as in "micro-stutter" tv right? LOL.... yeah it's good to be back, with some decent HD pq, and alot more choice in programming. Been with Comcast since the demise of VOOM, but they just recently degraded their HD pq, and it is ugly! With Directv, I've got that pop back in my HD picture!

    What HD channels are coming?

Hmm.. Lots of HD out still out there I guess.CHiller would be great. Travel HD would be nice too. Does the Travel channel have an HD station?

    What HD channels are coming?

I have returned to Directv, after having dealt with comcast long enough, and I am pretty impressed with all the HD channels D* has to offer. My question is what could they possibly add next? Is there honestly any other HD channels out there? It seems that they have pretty much covered it all. I...

The "Just switched to D*" bandwagon

Update: Today I had an installer come out, and he tested everything for me, and right away knew my problem was a bad LNB. He changed it, and everything is working fine now. Man I can't help but kick myself for not coming to back to Directv sooner. I just can't get over the amount of HD...

The "Just switched to D*" bandwagon

Just switched over from Comcast. Couldn't see paying what I was for a soon to be degraded PQ. I used to have Directv, years ago, some may remember me here in these forums, but most may not... I've been away since the demise of VOOM, anather service I had. Anyway, Directv installed today, and I...

    An Analysis of the Microstutters

great find Darrell! This needs to be brought to the attention of someone at V* imediatly, as a lot of us saw this problem occuring all the time, and found it very annoying. Very interesting about the 3 frames being repeated. And it is funny how some notice this stutter, and others don't. The...

    they left the 30" dish???

Hi guys, just wanted to pop in and let you guys know they picked up my VOOM equipment last week, but left the 30" dish they provided me with for the rain fade issue I was having? The installer who picked it up said he didn't want to try and break it down to fit into his small car. I signed the...

    Well folks I'm out...

Thanks for the positive response. I will be doing some future lurking to see if problems do get fixed, and I'll be watching the growth of VOOM from the side lines. That DVR that's coming in the fall just might bring me back pretty darn quick! ;) Again, thanks everyone.

    Well folks I'm out...

It was time for this guy to make his decision on VOOM, and I think I made the right choice. I'm dumping them and sticking with D*. The constant picture quality fluctuations, microstutters, bad looking sd channels (sparklies), and rain fade problems are my main gripes with V*. I'm not going to...

Best Plus Pack for HD Viewing

Sean speaks the truth here, but I have to add that Cinemax HD has a lot of artifacts/ pixelation during fast moving scenes. It's not so terrible that it is unwatchable, but it is *very* noticeable. Same thing goes for SHOWHD

    *AHHH*.. no VOOM for me!!!

lol... yeah let's see... the first installer got a low 40's signal for me, and said that was the best I could possibly get, and that I should be happy with it. This was the old scale btw. A few days later I adjusted and got mid to high 50's. Then when I had someone come back out for the 30"...

Best Plus Pack for HD Viewing

IMO, Starz has the best PQ as far as VOOM HD premium movie channels go. HBO is right there too, but I find HBO to be lacking in the movie department, and "Soprano's" just doesn't do it for me.

    *AHHH*.. no VOOM for me!!!

ya know, I was just thinking about how much fun it will be to put that dish back up there and find the signal again! BTW guys, the first installer that came to my house, (who initially hooked up the 18" dish) never grounded my dish. I would like to ground it when I set up my 30"...

Best Plus Pack for HD Viewing

I'd have to say Starz. It seems like they are always playing a movie in wodescreen, (most of it in HD btw). Sure some of it is upconverts, but they still look great *IMO*. Also Starz has the least artifacts/pixelation on VOOM. SO my choice would be Starz.
