Not really...Santana has melted down and will be gone if not relegated to an inning or two of relief. If your starter can stay in the game the bullpen is less-likely to blow it. I agree there are concerns, but this was too good to pass up...even if it is a rental.

The Giants get Scutaro from the Rockies. I do not see the point of this trade. They already have 3 Scutaro type players. If they need to improve their offense he is not going to help.

I agree. Marco is a good spare part, but nothing more than that.

Can't have enough spare parts I guess. Scutaro, who will bolster San Francisco's infield, was hitting .271 with four home runs and 30 RBI in 95 games for the Rockies. Scutaro is a likely replacement for third baseman Pablo Sandoval, who could go on the disabled list with a strained left hamstring. The Giants are sticking with Brandon Crawford at shortstop and Ryan Theriot at second base.

Just a few years ago, I coveted Han-Ram more than any other MLB player. Now I want no part of him. That's because of him AND the direction that the Red Sox are going.

That blockbuster Josh Beckett/Mike Lowell- Hanley Ramirez/Anibal Sanchez trade certainly helped both teams for years. But now, only Sanchez remains as a guy I'd want on my team (and he was traded to the Tigers yesterday).

I think I coveted Jason Bay a few yrs. ago too. The Mets announcers are talking about how Bay has been down in the dumps and tries hard and how he got injured in LA 2 yrs. ago and ran into the wall this year. They are also talking about how the Mets fans are not booing Bay. I applaud his effort and he tries hard but now its time to cut your losses. He's been miserable here. He's not the same guy who went to the Red Sox after Manny left.

I would look at picking up Johnson in a heart beat if I were one looking, he may be having an off season this year, but the kids a stud.

So would I. Take a gamble on the kid. You dont know what your getting in the future.

Scutaro is a smart move because Kung Fu Panda is having a good year but he's a little heavy. I think you need somebody with a little bit of speed.
Actually the real reason I posted your quote was because of your avatar pic. He looks very familiar. Is that Dick the Brusier? The Crusher? Is he a wrestler?

Can anybody give me any info. about the Mets? Are they going to trade for anybody? Maybe I missed some news about them.

Maybe Scutaro can be one of those "lightning in a bottle" pickups.

3 of his 4 HRs were hit in CO. Meaning he only hit 1 HR in a park where the ball does not fly out. He as also batting over .300 in CO which means his road average was well under .270. Scutaro is not going to bolster anything.

The Giants don't expect him to bolster anything, they just need an infielder. Burriss can't hit $&^% and Sandoval is on the DL.

Liriano to the Chisox

Minneapolis, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Francisco Liriano will be staying in the American League Central, that after the Minnesota Twins dealt the left-hander to Chicago in exchnage for Eduardo Escobar and Pedro Hernandez.

The 28-year-old Liriano posted a 5.31 earned run average this season with 109 strikeouts and 55 walks, that including being demoted to bullpen duty earlier this season.

Saw on twitter that the Astros have acquired IF Bobby Borchering and OF Marc Krauss from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for 3B Chris Johnson

Both players are what each team needs. The Giants need a power hitter and the Dodgers need a lead off hitter.

I just find it interesting that the Phils are trading away their outfield but keeping their older over their prime players

And some of you were complaining about NBA players getting paid...
