Ric Porcello again pitching very well, only 74 pitches thru 7 innings and so far 13 more ground ball outs, allowing 3 hits and no runs.

He is giving himself a shot at back to back complete game shutouts. It wasn't long ago that many people were bashing Porcello and wanting him out of the rotation. Now he is leading the Tigers in wins, as crazy at that sounds when you have Verlander, Scherzer, and Sanchez on this staff.

Porcello with 17 ground ball outs tonight ...

He has 11 wins now, does he go to the ASG ?

I think he will. They we're talking like he might be in the running to be the starting pitcher for the AL during tonight's game. Of course, that was Detroit homer announcers doing the talking. I don't think he will start but I don't see how he could not be on the team this year.

Sanchez should also be going, but I haven't heard his name much.

Porcello first to do back to back shut outs since Jack Morris, and the game only took like two hours, kind of fitting as that was game time back then as well :)

Not only that but he pitched the complete game with 0 strikeouts and 0 walked batters. I didn't look up the history but that has to be even more rare than the back to back complete game shutouts. He got it done with 17 ground ball outs and it only took him 95 pitches.

such an up and down season for the tigers so far

procello probably blew any chance he had of making the all star game with that poor performance yesterday

Yeah, I was pretty surprised he wasn't already in when he was tied for first in wins with Tanaka. When he lost his last game several people caught up with him though.

Give the tigers some credit, they were down 5-0 after one, now tied in the second

Well, as typically will happen, after the Tigers had a 16-4 win yesterday, they have a 2-1 lead in the 8th tonight. .... ya just knew this would happen.
At least, so far it's still a lead.
