The token team BEAT Michigan this year. Why did that get them into the final? Only four teams. An 8 or 12 team setup would be a firewall to the Final for a mid-major unless they were truly great. But it gives them a chance... much like the major colleges would have to earn the title. For mid-majors, making into the playoff will mean something just by itself.

Is it perfect? Not really. But this is college football, a non-profit *cough* amateur sport that has rarely cared about the crowning the best. However, this seems to be the best we'll ever have in a system that protects its brand more than the makes of Candy Crush Saga.

How does Michigan get 3 spot? Not that it matters much, but they did lose to #2, and Ohio gets #4 losing to the national champ?

Michigan also has one less loss than OSU, and beat them head to head.

Personally, TCU with two losses and the curb stomp in the nattie at #2 is ridiculous to me.

College football ranking system is ridiculous, so that is why it looks ridiculous. After all, TCU beat Michigan who is #3 because they beat OSU (and have one less loss).

All that really matters is who is #1. And this year, we know it is Georgia.

Simple, they crushed Ohio State and lost to TCU, which puts them between those 2 teams.

The question should be, Why isn't Tennessee & Alabama #2 & #3 over TCU, Michigan, and Ohio State. :D

Technically, TN and AL didn't make the playoffs.

I think TCU being at #2 is purely because they Made the Championship game.

The same invicible Great Georgia team that squeaked by Ohio State, only because they were getting thier Ass beat thru 3 quarters so they have to take the BEST player on the field out of the game ... to have a chance to get back in the game ? THAT Georgia ????

They had NO Answer for Harrison, he had 5 receptions for over 100 yards and 2 TD's in the first half.

Had they not taken Harrison out of the game they would have lost the game by 7-14 points .... they wouldn't have had 3 and outs in the 4th quarter ...

In the end they still couldn't stop the Buckeye offense, they still drove the ball down at the end of the game, if they could kick a FG they wouldn't have even been in the Championship game.

THAT Georgia ???

College football, the only game where the fans act like their team won when they lost.

Oh I'm not arguing that, I'm happy with how the AP put the top 4 (my comment was in jest). Was funny to see Saban put Alabama at #2 in his Coaches Poll ballot. Still butthurt about being left out, but that happens when you lose 2 games and doesn't even win your division. He should just be happy they have Alabama over Tennessee despite Tennessee winning head to head (which I think is wrong).

It was more that they beat Michigan, who then crushed Ohio State. The 1-4 rankings made perfect sense based on that.

Ass beat? Georgia led in every Stat in that game.

2023 01 12 08 56 38 Ohio State vs Georgia College Football Team Statistics December 31 2

The turnover (and 2 missed field goas) are what had Ohio State in the lead.
so they have to take the BEST player on the field out of the game
Yet again, a legal hit. People could easily point out how the ref's were not calling holding on the Ohio State line.

If they didn't call Targeting, they should have at the very least called Pass Interference ....

He did NOT hit his head on the ground, how does he end up with a concussion ???
IF he even had one . o_O

Find the stats on the game thru 3 quarters ... thats when Harrison was illegally knocked out of the game.
Is there a Legal way to knock someone out of a game ????

People say the Buckeye Defense played poorly ... yes Georgia hit on some Big plays, they typically do, however, if Georgia's offense was rolling along so well, why were they only 2 for 10 on 3rd down conversions ...

Yes the Buckeye Defense didn't play great, no one expected them to.

This is shades of Bama took out Colt or Texas would have won.

Football is a contact sport. Unfortunately players get hurt. It happens. Nobody "took him out".

There was no pass interference as he had stepped out of bounds and therefore was not a legal receiver. Even if he hadn't have stepped out of bounds, there was no interference with the catch.

Did you even look at replays of the play?
