ariza 700 DOA

i got it today, pluged it in, and the screen "rolls" i checked and it is not my Tv or cables.

what would be causing this? the guy i bought it from said it worked fine

Sounds like it is set to PAL

when i turn it out i can make out "expvu" on the screen, so that means that this had hackware on it, would this be causing it?

EDIT i did a little reading and found out that if the receiver was set on pal, it would roll on a ntsc set

is there anyway to fix this less shelling out $30 for a converter?

try the a/v cables. that usually can make it so it doesnt roll as bad and you can get into the menus to change it to NTSC

i tried both a/v and coax

looks like im going to have to buy a uk tv!!

if someone owns a ariza 700 please tell me what buttons to press to get into the menu and what to press to change it to ntsc

Reload the factory firmware to it. Should take care of it.

Also try the green component output to your composite input. Should get a B&W signal there, though probably PAL as well, but worth checking if your firmware load didn't resolve it already.

It says here that the Ariza 700PAL/NTSC conversion is automatic..........Good luck.

this is how i fixed it, and this is hoe you can fix it if you ever break it

i took an old black and white tv, with the adjustable vertical and horizontal holds. then i played with them untill the picture came in ! it works now

so it wasnt broken, it just the guy that sold it did that and wanted to get somethimng out of it, unless he was using a pal set

i must say the ariza 700 is the smallest receiver i have seen. the only thing i dont like about it is no componet out and slow blindscan.

You can do it with a color tv too, its just a lot harder to read the menu. I have an older box that does that sometimes on its own, and its dang hard to see , but simple to fix. Ariza apparently slid off the radar, couldnt find a website except one that now only sells lnbs and brackets, meters and other related stuff. That one came out in 2006 I think.....
