I am using a Amiko mini hd 265. in the afternoons the Weigel channels on SES 1 break up and sometimes disappear altogether . Yet all channels on ses 3 come in fine. Usully after 7 PM the waigel stations come in fine. I connected the v8 finder to the dish and could find no problem. Everything comes in great on all available stations any time of day. Is the amiko on tis way out? Is there a programming fix for this. ? If not I guess i'm in the market for a replacement.

The sun outages for the autumn begin in about a month.

I think you're just describing a normal situation for a slightly undersized dish. I have a 7.5-foot dish and what you describe sometimes happens here. Best reception is at night from 101W SES1. During late morning to early afternoon, signal from the Weigel mux is lower.

103W SES18 is a newer satellite and its transponders are stronger here than 101W.

What size dish are you using? Be sure to peak the signal by varying your azimuth, elevation and LNB skew. Also, my GT Media V9 Prime is more sensitive than my Edision Mio4k+. So the V9 Prime will receive the Weigel mux better.

Does the V8 blind scan the Weigel transponder at 4180 H or is the frequency different from the Amiko STB? What is the Signal Quality reading on the V8 of the Weigel transponder when it disappears using the Amiko?

What is the Amiko's Signal Quality reading on the Weigel transponder after 7pm?

Does the Weigel transponder completely lose SQ, reduced SQ or have fluctuating SQ readings when the channels break-up or disappear?

Do the Jewelry channels on 4140 H also disappear along with the Weigel 4180 H transponder?

to reply . I am using a 10 foot mesh with a titanium LNB with the 5G filter. My amiko has set Weigel channels as 13 to 27 In order to check signal of JVC I had to scan JVC in. Went to a blind scan and Amiko set the results in channel 59-74 with JVC on 76. Weird , at 2:30 PM all the 59-76 channels came in great with S-98 Q89. frequency 4180V . The v8 reported same channels on 4181V. However Weigel on number 13-27 showed no signal and after about 7 PM they come alive with S92 Q75 ? Maybe the LNB is mounted wrong.or the receiver is on is way out?

Yes, the LNBF has been incorrectly mounted 90 degrees out of rotation. Reference the skew "0" mark to the horizontal polarity, delete the current transponders then rescan. BUT.... being 90 degrees out of skew is not the cause of signal loss, The incorrect skew only creates transponder and channel lists with incorrect polarities displayed.

The Amiko STB Signal Quality readings were always a bit wonky. Does the V8 display SNR (or CNR) value for the Weigel transponder? If so, the V8 SNR readings to compare between the times of receiving and not receiving would be helpful. A SNR (or CNR) gives specific signal report vs an SQ reading that is just a manufacture's uncalibrated setting.

Also, the Weigel transponder 4180 H (DVBS2 FEC 5/6) requires a significantly better signal to decode than the Jewelry transponder 4140 H (DVBS FEC 3/4). FEC 5/6 means that 5 out of every 6 bits of data must be received to properly decode and display (83.33 %), The FEC 3/4 is more forgiving as 3 of 4 bits of data must be received to properly decode and display (75 %).

BTW... It is possible that the V8 satellite meter is simply capable of decoding the transport stream and display programming with a lower signal than the Amiko is capable of decoding. If this is the case, a different STB might provide a more sensitive tuner or better coding to decode poor signals.

Thank you for your input. I will reposititon the LMB and try to peak the signal. Bit of a challange with a 6 foot ladder on a 10 foot dish.

Update. stood on ladder to rotate LNB.. Adjusted to peak signal. Bumped posititoner to get max input. Readjusted LNB .bumped dish again for max input. still the same symptoms. Gave up! put everything back where it was. Totally wiped receiver and rescanned available satellites. So far everything is working as it should with no glicthes or droplouts. Thanks for suggestions.
