I've missed the window for auto-renew cancellation in the past and call immediately to get back on a promotional rate. After I get the best retention deal offered (usually 5 mo. for $25 or 6 mo. for $30) the charges are pro-rated back to the original renewal date. You end up paying at the higher rate only from the original auto-renew date up to the date you call. Point is, call ASAP after the auto-renew kicks in to save yourself some money.

I just got an offer for 12 months for $60 for a new vehicle that we did not purchase service for. The add states "That's like $5 a month for a whole year!"
I finally got around to calling back and ended up with the same offer. It's month-to-month too, so we're not locked in for those 12 months in case we decide to really drop it for good.

I just called to cancel and they would only do 5 months for $25. So as with DirecTV, bye bye.

I called to cancel my Honda CR-V all access package I was getting on a 6 months for $50 promo. I had not been able to get through on the phone the day before the promo was set to end because I called after they were closed. Recording said I had to call back after 8AM Eastern. So the next morning I logged into my account and saw that they charged me for a month already @ $24. So I called and said I needed to cancel my account because I cannot afford $24 a month for a car radio and will cancel unless they can give me a better rate. The rep (not sure which far east nation based - friendly, helpful and polite) offered me 6 months for $60 plus ta & fees for same all access package including internet streaming. I asked if they could do a year. She said she could do a year for $119.XX plus $16 taxes & fees. I bought. Good to go on this car until January 2019. I like the streaming I use it at work and on my phone and at home on Alexa. I think its worth $10.XX a month for all that.

That's about the best you 'll get. Not a bad deal.

Per month, yes. I asked for a year for $60 per radio or turn it off....tired of calling every 5 months. Numerous friends of mine received that deal, guess they weren't in the mood that day.

Made my every 5 months call today to "cancel" my subscription. I've been on the SiriusXM Select plan, 5 mos for $25 plus fees for a few years now. After the usual pitch, I was only offered 5 mos @ $28.50 plus fees. Asked for 6 mos. @ $30 as advertised on siriusxm.com for new subs. Initially, no deal. Their counter offer was 6 mos. @ $33. After refusing and sticking to the original request I ended up on hold two times. In the end I received the 6 mos.@$30 rate but the process was a lot harder and more lengthy this time than in the past. Also, as noted earlier in this thread the rights fees are up too.

I called and canceled week before last. The rep asked if cost was why I was wanting to cancel, as he saw one of the radios was about to renew in a couple days. I told him there were several reasons I wanted to cancel, but cost was a big reason. He said he had some promotions he could offer me. I said "well...I've been streaming Slacker Radio through my phone, and I only pay $24.99 per year for it. No taxes or fees." He canceled both radios and didn't even make any kind of attempt to keep me.

Agree....impossible to justify paying SXM when I have Spotify for free for 1 year (part of phone package)

I had the following service that "auto renewed." Figures include Taxes and Fees.
Vehicle 1 All-Access with Streaming $287
Vehicle 2 Sirius Select $150
1 Year Total $437

I called and said "no" about three times and ended up with this:
Vehicle 1 Select with Streaming $126
Vehicle 2 Select $ 76
1 Year Total $202

Savings (Refund) over the initial Billing $235

...............life is good!

Well that' Much better ....
They send my bill to me awhile back and it was 2 radios with streaming (same thing I've had for years) and the bill was for $450 .... I called and told them that was ridiculous.
I told them to give me what I had last year (150 a radio for the year approx including tax and royalty) they balked of course ..... 45 minutes later Retention gave me that same deal.

I would have done that IF you could transfer that service when you get a different vehicle, but as far as I know they never did that ....
I got Sirius lifetime back around 1999/2000 and have transferred the service a number of times, just had to pay a $75 transfer fee, last time I did it was just this month. What stunk was when I transferred to a vehicle that had XM and not Sirius hardware they downgraded my package, lost NFL, NASCAR and Howard.

Looking on the net it all depends on when you purchased the lifetime service, some are unlimited transfers, some three and some only if it was a portable unit.

I just had the auto-renew kick in which was going to be $239 for a year (hell no), so I called them and basically got for $200~ two cars all access including internet. They wouldn't go lower since they have been already extending a 5 month $30 deal and the first year was already free (new car), my other car was $100~ in total for the year, guessing it was $75 plus taxes and royalty fees. So as we all know just hold out for the best deal until they are ready to hang up with you. Best deals for sure are ones under $100 for the year but those can be hard to get at times, not sure why but some promotions times are better than others. With carriers offering unlimited data these days and this not being bandwidth intensive application I just stream it while at the gym, taking walks etc. Without the internet being a part of it I probably would cancel. Even stream at home but as someone else said there are so many options for music that I really only listen to talk shows like Howard and sports stuff.
